7. Harry Himslef?

Just to clarify, from what I read I thought it was:

1. the ring- destroyed
2. the cup/goblet- not destroyed
3. the locket- possibly destroyed
4. the diary- destroyed
5. Something of Ravenclaw's or something of gryffindor's
6. Something else, possibly Nagini.
7. Voldemort

There are only six horcruxes and then the piece left in Voldemort's body. Hence Voldemort's soul is split into seven pieces.

Well, maybe he doesn't believe that Harry is a possible horcrux? Or he didn't think he could group Harry in with some of the other possibilities? Or he was just going by what Dumbledore had said?

If you were going by what Dumbledore had said, I believe that the something of Gryffindor's was replaced by Nagini since Voldemort couldn't find anything of Gryffindor's. At least that's the impression I got from what Dumbledore said.

Don't care what ppl say, LV is NOT the final horcrux, he said in the book what if he split his soul 7 times, which means he's in 8 pieces with 7 horcrux.

Correct.

Mrs. Luca Black wrote:If you were going by what Dumbledore had said, I believe that the something of Gryffindor's was replaced by Nagini since Voldemort couldn't find anything of Gryffindor's. At least that's the impression I got from what Dumbledore said.

I think it was "something Gryffindor or Ravenclaw" as a horcrux and then Dumbledore thought that it couldn't be Gryffindor as only the sword survived, Nagini is a 'different' horcrux. Hence my list:
Dumbledore wrote:1. the ring- destroyed
2. the cup/goblet- not destroyed
3. the locket- possibly destroyed
4. the diary- destroyed
5. Something of Ravenclaw's or something of gryffindor's
6. Something else, possibly Nagini.
7. Voldemort

Although if you believe that Harry is a horcrux, I'm not sure which one of the above he would be replacing? And if Voldemort accidently and unknowingly made Harry a horcrux, then now he has eight parts of soul :-?

Personally I don't think Harry was made a horcrux as I am sure that either:
a) someone i.e. Dumbledore, would have noticed
b) Voldemort wouldn't be afraid of him
c) the prophecy no longer makes sense, as Harry can't kill Voldemort.
d) it's not JKR's style

That's not quite the forum spirit.

Tom Riddle (pg 466 UK edition) wrote:would one horcrux be much use? Can you only split your soul once? Wouldn't it be better, make you stronger, to have your soul in more pieces? I mean, for instance isn't seven the most powefully magical number, wouldn't seven -?'

Tom talks about splitting the soul, but then moves on to talk about seven pieces being the most powerful, hence six horcruxes and one left in the body.

yeah...guess i was too dramatic on that...

But if he cannot be the final horcrux, the horcrux has to be a possesion, something solid, existing on this lane of existence, if he he couldn't have made himself a horcrux because well....maybe a person can't be a horcrux, because he is just a spirit , just thought of something wierd, 2 ppl being horcruxes to each other, neither could die.... thats why he couldn't, aslo, if it was that simple DD would have said something and just said there were 6 horcruxes and Voldemort, but he said there were 7, then Voldemort.

Apologies if this comes out being pedantic, but I do like to have clear head on how many Horcruxes there are before thinking where they could be.

Page 470 (UK edition)

Harry wrote:He made seven Horcruxes?

Dumbledore wrote:no, Harry, not seven Horcruxes: six. The seventh part of his soul, however maimed, resides inside his regenerated body.

Back on topic, I wonder where he could have hidden hufflepuff's goblet. There definitely could be something in the Room of Requirement, but where else is a important place for Voldie? The Riddle House? A place of one of his victims?

Most of his horcruxes were gathered after he left Hogwarts. And since he wasn't allowed back as a teacher, he would have few chances to hide it anywhere. No, I think we're actually going to have to explore more than Hogwarts and Diagon Alley this book coming

He was able to come back into the castle to ask for that job. I think he was only halfway through his horcruxes when he did that, so he would have been there and able to do at least a little bit of damage.

1. the diary
2. the ring
3. the locket
4. Nagini
5. Hufflepuff's cup
6. Something of Ravenclaw's or Gryffindor's (most probably Ravenclaw's)
7. Voledmort himself

I can't even imagine how long the next book would be if Harry had to figure out that one of the Horcruxes Dumbledore thought of was wrong. I firmly believe the above list to be it.

Anyway, this post started talking about Zachariah Smith being a possible descendent of Hufflepuff's founder. It's possible. Of course there are a lot of Smith's. Of course he does come up a lot to be an unimportant character. If he is related to the Hufflepuff line and he had the opportunity to help Harry, I think he would. I know that I'd help someone I didn't like if it could save the world. People tend to put their differences aside if the world is in danger, no matter how much they dislike someone. I just can't see Zachariah not helping Harry in defeating the most evil wizard in the world just because they don't get along.
