I doubt that it would be coming out so soon. We heard that OotP was coming out months before it actually did. This builds up the anticipation and means that it will make more sales in the first week.

Lets face it, OotP only came out last year and JKR was going to take some time off before doing bk 6. Not enough time in my opinion.

Perhaps you are confusing the new film with the new book.

The leaky cauldron today reported that we might not see the next book until summer of 2005, maybe longer

I saw that too. Dreadful news.

But, great books take taime to write. Then it needs editing, proof reading, printing, marketing, advertising, more advertising and then have at least four months from when we are given the release date to the book actually coming out to further increase our anticipation. :x

I think that maybe JK.R has alrady all the ideas of thing that occur in HP6 done, the only thing that she has to do is to write them like a book

Yeah, she already knows what she's gonna do. But I'd rather wait longer if the book is going to be better, and JKR isn't gonna put out a book she thinks is cr*p.

I get worried thinking about JK not liking her writing. She gets quite depressed. I remember her saying in an interview that she used to think about how she could break her arms when the pressure of writing got to her. Hopefully now that she doesn't have to work to deadlines this won't be an issue.

I copied this from the locked thread:

Athena Appleton wrote:I'm sure most of you have heard that Rowling has now officially said that the name of the next Harry Potter book will be Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince... but, umm... well, I saw this news thingy on imdb.com, and it kinda threw me for a loop... what do you make of it?

imdb.com wrote:
Celebrated author JK Rowling has hit out at rumors her sixth Harry Potter book is called Harry Potter And The Pillar Of Storge by revealing its real title. Rowling announced that the next book - released next month - will be called Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, on her website and attacked those who confused her fans with spurious titles. Rowling confessed the title was one she considered for the second Potter book, which became Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets. She refused to reveal when fans can expect the next installment of the boy wizard's adventures and said the only plot secret she would divulge was that Half Blood Prince did not refer to Harry or the evil Lord Voldermort. So far, the first five books in the Potter series have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide since their debut, Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone hit bookshelves in 1997.

When I read it on her site, there was nothing about the release date, only the title of the book and the thing that the Half Blood Prince is neither Voldie, nor Harry. *shrugs*

And somewhere else I've read (Leaky Cauldron?) that OotP's title was released almost 3 years before the book actually came out. But hopefully this time it won't be so late.

i think the title of OotP was released just one year before the book came out. i would obviously love it if HBP came out in a month but i really don't think that's true at all. if i remember right the release date for OotP came out about six months before the actual date. wouldn't it be great though if that was true and jkr surprised us with a release date next month?!

I also really doubt that the release date would be next month, as websites like Amazon started their pre-ordering at least 3 months before the release.

Next month? That has to be a typo? I mean in once sentence it says "next month" and another sentence says that "She refused to reveal when fans can expect the next installment of the boy wizard's adventures". Don't those two statements contradict each other, since one annouces when it will be, and the other says there is no knowing when...

unless it is true and they don't know each date...

It would be very JKR to just release the book secretly, yet it would be very unconsumeristic to have to hype or media or countdowns to emphasize the release of this super book...kinda confusing if you ask me...

I kinda got the impression from her website, that there were a few more hints that she was planning to give us before the book was released. I'm sure she says onit that the door( thats locked again now) is going to open several more time before the books released- and seeing as the site only gets updated about once/month- it seems likely that its going to be several months.

Plus as far as i know the books have all come out around the same time each year- hence seeing as we've gone past that this year the logical time seems to be summer 05
