PoA-What do you think about the film??

Postby harrylover » Friday 4 June 2004 10:56:07am

I saw the film yesterday and it´s really good!!
1: the actors are really good, ron is a very good actor!!
2: They look so cute!! (Ron, Harry)
3: Lupin: He is a good actor and i really liked his role...
4: Sirius: His scenes were a bit short but i liked the way he looked...shabby, exhausted... :-)
5: The film was a bit short, there wasn´t much time for extra things, it´just the plot!!

Yes, the film is a good one but like you said it was a bit too short. So short that they had to wizz through it just to get the whole plot in :)
There wasn't very much stuff in between. For this reason I would say that the parts were better than the whole. Nevertheless still an impressive film, and I'm looking forward to the next one :D

Its fantastic!! I was extremely impressed with Buckbeak, he looked wonderful. The werewolf stuff was very impressive too. I think they got the hang of blending the special effects and computer stuff into the movie properly at last.

10 times better than the first two. It's darker, funnier, poignant-er (eh?)... just all around better. The new characters were great, the trio didn't make me gag, and Snape was still brilliant! Only things I didn't like was how the landscape was so obviously different from the first 2. I also wasn't crazy for the very abrupt ending, but it was better than the "once again, Harry Potter saves the day" endings of the first 2 movies. I give it 9 out of 10.

I was actually a little disapointed. :(

I felt it was rushed....and if you hadn't read the books (which, as I said in a nother post I made, everyone should read the books, but for those too young to read or unable to read) it was terribly confusing. A lot of things were left unsolved....

I felt like, Sirius and Lupin's casting was....ALMOST right...but not...exactly there. Sirius definately needed to be scarier, a TALLER for god's sake. And Lupin's mustache.....needed to go.

And I for one didn't really like the way the werewolf was portrayed...nor the way they changed that scene.

Oh that's a nother thing...the small changes they made, that made absolutely no sense! Why did they change it???

And the talking heads...WHY ALL THE TALKING HEADS??? :-? :-?

On....the other hand...there were good points, Like Draco was hilarious, and buckbeak was brilliant.

Oh, and the set of hogwarts changed dramatically! All the sudden they were in the rolling hills of...scotland or something.... :???:

Anyway, enough whining...I'm off 8)

i agree with a lot of what you said devinci, but still, i thought the movie was very good and better than the first two. like some people have already said, it seemed rushed, it seemed like almost every scene had something vital to the plot in it. one thing i really, really didn't like was the new hogwarts grounds, since when was the castle set in the freakin mountains? ok so they weren't really mountains, but they were pretty darn big hills. and what was up with the 4 million crows flying around hagrid's hut? i didn't really like that.

now having said all that bad stuff, i still liked the movie a lot. i was extremely impressed with emma watson and rupert grint, it seemed like they got a ton better from the first two movies. i think dan radcliffe also got better, but i'm still not very high on him, he gets the job done and that's about it. there were a lot of funny parts in the film that weren't in the book that i liked, like when ron woke up and was scared of the spiders in his dream and harry told him to get them.

overall i give it an 8.75 out of 10

The screenplay was quite good considering how they had to condense much of the book to make it fit in 2 hours. The one scene I didn't care for the way it was acted was the reunion of Sirius and Lupin. It seemed too comedic, and almost as if Lupin was dropping in for tea instead of a serious confrontation with Pettigrew.

yeah, i really liked it. out of the three movies, i thought it was the best movie for a movie, but they took more leeway with the plot by leaving out some stuff, misplacing stuff, etc. i hope they do a better job sticking to the book in the next one and wouldn't mind if they had to make it three hours long (people would still watch it, i mean look at the lotr series), but i still think that it was absolutly brilliant

Hogwarts is in the rolling hills of Scotland.

I liked the new sets. I never thought the original sets were believable in the least as a 1000-year-old castle.

I thought Rupert Grint had improved remarkably. I liked Emma Watson as Hermione, but, like most of you, I was less than impressed with Daniel Radcliffe. I will say, though, that I think he's improved a lot since the first film.

yeah, thanks athena, that had occured to me too, it IS in scotland, and it IS supposed to be a thousand years old, remember, that was when the 4 started hogwarts, so what exactly is ya'lls complaint about that?

Isn't that werewolf a little too thin? I always though werewolves are supposed to be mean, big and strong. Someone said it looked alot like Gollum  and I have to agree with it.

Ron is funny or should I say Rupert Grint. Haha, he's so full of interesting expressions!

Alan Rickman is brilliant as well. Simply loved the way he said "turn to page three hundred and ninety-four"

But the ending was a little weird...I mean HUH? At least, they could show something like on the King's Cross station Platform 9 and 3/4 with Ron and Hermione saying something or anything to Harry!

I loved the movie and think it the best so far. But did anyone else here think that Harry should have been alittle curious as to how Lupin knew that the mauraders map was a map let alone how to use it. And they never told you who moony, wormtail, padfoot, and prongs were!!

Did you guess think that the Wealsey twins were vastly improved since the last movie. Cuaron(sp) having them play of each other instead of having whole lines of their own seemed to play eally well. MIA (Most Improved Actors) Award goes to them I think.

Actually, one of the weakest aspects of the film is the amount of background information you would need to fully understand it.

However, I agree, the twins were much better utilized in this film than they were before. Harry has a closer relationship to them than was shown in the first few films (where Oliver Wood had more screentime and role, particularly in instructing Harry at Quidditch). For continuity purposes, that needed to be shown to explain Harry's giving them the Triwizard winnings.

The first time I saw the movie I was somewhat disappointed. This is my
favorite book of the series and I felt cheated, with all the stuff left out
and or rearranged. So I spent the weekend thinking about it, Then I asked
my friend who saw the movie with me what she thought about it{she hasn't read the book, yes there people out there who haven't} and she
not only got it she loved it.{she has borrowed the book} Anyway, I went
to see the movie again with this new perspective and I loved it.
Sirius and Lupin were great, Snape hits a new level of evil nastiness,
and the trio were awesome. But...What's with all the talking heads?

That's my favorite scene in the whole movie. I LOVE the way he plays Snape!!! I wish there was more of him in the movie.

I noticed the whole Lupin-Marauder's Map thing too, its bothered me since I left the theater. And there's no connection between Harry's patronus and James, what a shame.
