Project Hunger

Postby Krum » Wednesday 21 April 2004 7:17:32pm

I just want to tell you-I'm not going to eat for one full week-just drinking water and taking vitamins.I was inspired by a friend of mine who did it and he was a fat slob:8):...the deal is i need to find followers and we can all post some kind of journals here.

My first day of hunger went without any trouble...i have often forgotten to eat for a whole day, so it's okay.one thing i know is it's forbidden to chew gum. It's very, very bad for the cause

I am curious as to what the Hunger strike is for.
What is the cause and what exactly are you trying to raise awareness of?

My parents would never allow me that and I really doubt that I could do that - specially at this time of the month (hem... hem...).
But I really wonder the same what Alice I asked you. IS there a cause, or are you just playin'? If there is a cause, what is it? Do you just want to prove yourself that you can do it, or is there more?

So, it really is that you want to prove yourself that you can do it. ž

O.k. - I hope you'll be able to, I know I couldn't specially cause I'm a chewing gum addict

And I really don't see why your 2nd reason would be a good reason for starvation

Hmmm.. seems a bit strange to me
I didn't even know it was possible to go that long without food. I've never done anything like that.

I think I could do it ... But my parents would never allowed me to do that! :)
And I think that if that's what you really want you should do it, but be careful! :)

Krum,
being a heavy person myself who has been on just about every fad diet they can think of let me tell you that starving yourself even for one week is not going to help you.
What happens is this:
Your body goes into starvation mode and your matabolism shuts down. Ultimatly what happens is you end up putting weight on rather than losing it because of the change in your metabolic set point.
If you want to try something drastic I would recommend trying to confine yourself to only fruits and vegatables for a week.
I would highly recommend against a starvation diet.

haha if I did that my parents would send me straight to Providence Hospital saying I'm anorexic b/c I'm already like 5'7" and 130 lbs. Thats not THAT skinny, but I dont needa lose any weight. Here's how I accidentally lost 8 lbs in one week though: when I got my braces on 3 yrs ago (theyre off now  ) it hurt so bad I couldnt eat anythign for a week. Except soft fruits. I ate nothing but pears, bananas and applesauce, and I'm a big eater so i ate a crapload of that stuff. and I still lost 8 lbs. But when my teeth stopped hurting I threw down a couple of ribs and a steak and gained it back!!

Our church calls for fasting at various times throughout the year... I never can participate, though. Ever since I had a gastric bypass, I've been anemic... and it's only gotton worse after having Cameron and Colin...

good luck, but don't hurt yourself

I agree.. i know some ppl that were trying to take this water diet.. and they were fat.. one minute they were fine the next minute we hade to take them to hospital because the body were out of proteins and vitamins etc etc.. sadly one of them died...so im AGAINST the water idea...
trye to eat right and exersise instead..
i´m trying my self to lose some weight so i know how hard it is to be heavy..

Another deal about a popular fad diet: the Atkins (low-carb) diet that everyone's doing right now... it's effective about making you lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, but it's not a healthy weight loss. You should always talk to your doctor before starting any radical weight-loss plan (starvation diet, water diet, low-carb or carb-free diet, etc), to find out if it will work for you.

Complex carbohydrates (whole grains, certain vegetables, the good-for-you stuff you know you should buy in the bread aisle as you walk past it to the white sandwich bread and hamburger buns ) are essential in your everyday maintainance. They help give you energy, they help your brain, your memory... Many people who start a low-carb or carb-free diet cut out whole grains and starchy vegetables like corn and potatoes and replace it with fatty meats and protiens (which, coincidentally, are some of the foods you need the least of a day). Cutting out a plain baked potato to have a 12-oz steak is really not that smart.

To lose weight and be healthy, talk to a doctor, and usually he or she will recommend you go the hard road, eating a balanced, sensible diet and excersizing regularly, losing an average of 2 lbs a week, instead of 10 lbs in 10 days. But it's worth it, because it will keep you healthier, and the weight you lose will stay off longer.

1:I'm not on a diet.I am about 10 pounds overweight and i couldn't care less:grin:
2:i'm taking vitamis and proteins and stuff so i'm not starving, just my stomache has only water in it...
3:My second day went pretty easy, only i started chewing gum at one point and got very hungry.A strange feeling-as if i had butterflies in my stomache, so i decided to drown the little buggers. Now i'm OK
4:NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING can make me stop

OK I see that you are determined but I still am wondering why you are doing this?
There must be some motivation that set you on fire about fasting for a week. What was it?
