Eeks! How many days left until the deadline? Paul, did you forget to post the date of the deadline? Because all I see is that it's '11.59 PM UTC/GMT' !

Good luck Gryffindor! Hope you'll still be able to answer some (or all) of the questions!

When will we get the results for the quiz? It ended tonight, does Ravenclaw correct it and then release the scores?

Nope, Ravenclaw doesn't get the answers the other houses have given. Paul collects them from the common rooms (or he gets them via a pm) and then he compares them with the right answers that we included when we gave him the questions..
I suppose he'll release the scores soon! :)

Sorry for the delay in the results. Some of the answers were posted in the Common Rooms a few hours beyond the deadline, but I'm going to allow this in this particular quiz, due to the technical problems of the last few days which may have delayed members from being able to post.

The great news is that all Houses have given an answer to all 5 questions....but...are they the right answers?
:jump:
The quiz questions again - plus this time, the answers, with page references were:
  1. Q: Whom does Hagrid narrowly miss concussing?
    A: Professer Vector
    R: OotP : chapter 25: page 484 | UK HB
  2. Q. What is the staircase Harry takes to charms made of?
    A. A marble one!
    R. PoA: chapter 15: page 217 | UK PB
  3. Q: Which people are known to have worn Harry's invisibility cloak alone?
Answer: James, Harry, Ron, and Snape; Harry in several books, Ron in PS/SS, James via Lupin in POA and Snape in POA
    R:
James Potter: PoA: chapter 17: page 254 | UK PB
Harry Potter: eg GoF: chapter 25: page 398 | UK PB
Ron Weasley: PS: chapter 14 UK page 173 | UK PB
Severus Snape: PoA: chapter 18: page 262 | 18 UK PB
  4. Q: Which girls have kissed Harry?
A: 6; Alicia, Angelina, Katie, Fleur, Hermoine, and Cho.
    R:
Alicia, Angelina, & Katie: PoA: chapter 13: page 194 | UK PB
Fleur: GoF: chapter 26: page 439 | UK PB
Hermoine: GoF: chapter 37: page 636 | UK PB
    Cho:
    - OotP: chapter 21: page 404 (Harry tells Ron and Hermione he has kissed her on this page) | UK HB
    - OotP: chapter 26: page 514 | UK HB
  5. Q: Who wears long green gloves?
    A: Mrs. Longbottom, Neville's grandmother
    R: OotP: Chapter 23: page 455 | UK HB

Question 1 was answered correctly, with page references, by all 3 answering houses. Therefore Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor all score 2 points, with no points to Ravenclaw who set the quiz.

For question 2, all three answering Houses correctly answered that the staircase which Harry takes to Charms is made of marble. Slytherin and Gryffindor both gave the page reference from Prisoner of Azkaban. Hufflepuff also found a reference to the marble staircase on page 297 UK paperback of Goblet of Fire, chapter 20, where Harry follows Cedric up the marble staircase and they end up heading towards the Charms corridor. I've checked this and it's correct, therefore for question 2, Gryffindor, Slytherin and Hufflepuff score 2 points each, with zero points for Ravenclaw

For question 3, the three answering Houses all correctly identified that Harry, James and Snape have all worn the cloak alone, but allll three houses missed out Ron, who used it on page 173 (UK) of Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone to visit Hagrid and help him feed Norbert around midnight. I'm going to give Slytherin, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff a half a point each for correctly identifying Harry, James and Snape, but one and a half points per house, totalling 4 and a half points to Ravenclaw for outfoxing everyone about Ron.

I thought question 4 would be a really difficult one - with 6 names involved. Amazingly, Slytherin and Gryffindor both got all 6 girls who have kissed Harry, and score 2 points each. Hufflepuff correctly answered that Fleur, Hermione and Cho have kissed Harry and also noted that Mrs Weasley has too! However, Hufflepuff missed out Alicia, Angelina and Katie, so I'll give Hufflepuff half a point with one and a half points to Ravenclaw.

And finally, question 5, the gloves had at least one of the Houses scratching their heads for quite a while, but eventually, all three Houses correctly answered that Neville's Gran wears long green gloves! Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor all therefore score 2 points, but zero to Ravenclaw.

So how does this all add up? :typing:

Scores in this round of the Harry Potter Quiz
Gryffindor 8 and a half points
Slytherin 8 and a half points
Hufflepuff 7 points
Ravenclaw 6 points

Congratulations to Gryffindor and Slytherin on being joint winners in this round of the quiz!
:double jump:

In the case of a draw for top points, the House who set the questions have the chance to choose between which of the top scoring Houses gets the chance to set the next quiz. It's all up to you this time, Ravenlaw...choose wisely. :)

Taking these results into consideration, the overall running total House points from the quiz this term are:

Cumulative Total House points in the Harry Potter Quiz
Slytherin 19 points
Gryffindor 16 and a quarter points
Ravenclaw 15 and three quarter points
Hufflepuff 9 points

So Slytherin have extended their lead, whilst Ravenclaw and Gryffindor have swapped places for second and third, and Hufflepuff have started a valiant recovery!

Well-done to all who helped with answering for your individual House, and to Ravenclaw for setting the excellent questions. There's still everthing in it, so good luck to Ravenclaw on choosing the next House to set the quiz!
