Alright, not my first fic, but my first on the site. It's gonna be long, hope it's OK with you guys.

Betrayal.

Dee was a traitor to both sides. Or so everyone thought.
A spy for Dumbledore in the ranks of Voldemort. A valuable spy for Voldemort as well.

She grimaced as she sipped her boiling tea. She collected information for the light side, while passing false facts to Him. After she had someone to accuse of course.

Dee downed the rest of her tea and stood up.
For 13 years she had been hiding from Voldemort's supporters. She would die if she went back now, she was a traitor after all.

But she had expected Dumbledore to believe her now. Dee frowned. Oh yes, the great Albus Dumbledore gives second chances to the unworthy. Ha. Well, he didn't trust her and she hadn't done anything with her first chance.
She waved her wand at the tea cup and banished it into the kitchen. The sound of clinking dishes told her she had finally gotten the 'Self Clean' charm right.

So now. Now he had started up the Order of the Phoenix. But did he tell Dee? Oh No. She had had to interrogate passing owls in her animagi form to collect information.
Owls to Severus Snape. Now there was a traitor. Oh sure he had turned spy during the war. After the killing. At least shehad never killed one of her own.

And there had been an owl for Sirius as well. So he believed Sirius now, the old coot. A bit late for that. Why hadn't Dumbledore trusted Sirius back when Dee had been the only one? The only one who stood by him.....

Dee banged her fist on the wooden table and a small crack appeared. She hadn't been in the group of Deatheaters that attacked the school. She hadn't been in charge of it. It wasn't her fault people had died. She hadn't stolen the book.
Dee strode over to the fireplace tring to ignore the peircing pain in her left arm. He wanted her to come.

"I need some more floo powder." she said aloud. Not that she needed it. She didn't go anywhere. And as the house was unplottable,in a deep countryside, and that handy anti-apparition ward was still working, she didn't get visitors either.

Dee sighed. She shook her head and transformed into a falcon with gold tipped wings. Maybe there would be another owl today.

Alright. There it is. I have another chapter to explain it all, so please review!

Very interesting! I can't wait to know more about who Dee is and what made her do what she seems to be doing. I like this a lot and can't wait to see the next chapter.

You mentioned that this is not your first fic- do you post anywhere else? If so, where? I have an account on ff.net, but the system is down so much that I've been thinking about posting on another site as well. As I said before, I look forward to more of this story!

FLASHBACK
(To the day before Lily and James were killed)

[i:343kz77g]As Dee Summers prepared to apparate to Hogsmede, she felt a sudden chill. She shivered, it felt as if a dementor had glided past. It was the day before Halloween and Dee was on her way to a meeting of the order of the Phoenix. She took out her wand to Dissaparate. She had collected some valuable information at the last Dark Order meeting. Voldemort had discovered the identity of James's secret keeper. They'd have to put more protection on Sirius. She dissapeared, leaving the cold behind.

When she appeared in Hogsmede, she was greeted by a horrible sight. Everything was silent. Windows were broken, debris littered the road and several fires were smouldering in ashes. Dee's mouth fell open, taking it all in. What could have happened this close to Hogwarts? Voldemort. said a voice in the back of her head.
She started to run. Up the road to the school, past the ruins of Zonkos, and several minutes later she burst into the Great Hall.

It was chaos. There were hundreds of people packed inside, teachers, students, Hogsmede residents, and a few Phoenix members. Many people were hurt, being laid out on stretchers and moaning. The younger students were crying and several people were in hysterics.
"No! I need to see her! She can't be dead! She can't be! Please!Let me go! Maria!" cried a girl clinging to a teachers arm.

Dee flew up the stairs. She needed to speak to Dumbledore. She stopped in front of the gargoyle and gasped out the password.

As she charged up the stairs she met Severus Snape head on. He gave her a look of deepest loathing. He had never looked at her like that, even in school when they had been worst enemies. He looked as if it was taking all his energy to refrain from killing her on the spot.

"What did you do, Summers?" he breathed.

"I...I don't know what you mean! What happened here?"
"Traitor!" he snapped. Snape grabbed her arm and dragged her forcefully into the Headmasters office.

Inside the room were numerous unconcious black robed figures. Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore, Remus and Sirius were standing around the room. As she came in, they all gave her the same stare. Even Dumbledore.

"W...what happened?" Dee stammered. "Did...Voldemort, he....He didn't attack did he?"
Sirius turned to look at her. The look of seriousness and bitterness looked alien on his face. He didn't say a word, but held out a peice of cloth to her.

All the Deatheaters were assigned to one of five groups, ranked accordingly. Dee was the leader of one of those groups. And the patch......the patch had her symbol upon it. She realised the figures lying around were deatheaters from her group. She recognized the limp form of one of the older Slytherin students,Derrik Axle.

She looked up. "You can't possibly think that I had anything to do with this?" she said, her voice unnaturally calm.
"You are the General of this group, are you not?" spat Snape. "He promoted you last week, didn't He? I suppose you didn't see it fit for Dumbledore to receive this information?"

"I...."it was true. She hadn't thought of informing Dumbledore. Dee looked at Sirius and Remus for help. Remus looked away, but Sirius still stared wih the look on his face. She felt a gnawing feeling in her stomache. She could stand anything Dumbledore threw at her, as long as Sirius was there.

"Professor, I still don't know what happened, if you would be so kind." she was amazed at the sharp tone that rung in her voice, but Dumbledore didn't look too surprised.

"Around lunchtime this afternoon, a student burst into the Great Hall saying the Deatheaters were attacking Hogsmede. We tried to get the younger students to safety, but they arrived too quickly." he gave her a serious look. "Several students and teachers were murdered before we managed to capture all the Deatheaters. A few still got away, but it was lucky the Order was here for a meeting. I expect you forgot to tell Voldemort that?"

Dee's mouth fell open again. He suspected her! How could he....he had no proof!

"Plus, the book is gone." the Headmaster said shortly.
The book. The Book of Sincerity could've been Voldemorts downfall. Only she Snape and James had ever known where it was located. And Peter, but he was asleep in his animagus form, so Dumbledore didn't know. How could someone have stolen it?

"You....Dumbledore, you must believe me! I had nothing to do with this!" she cried desperatly. Remus looked betrayed and Sirius walked over to the door and stormed out without looking back. Dee felt the bottom drop out of her stomach as he slammed the door. She wanted to run out and follow him, to force him to believe.

Dee turned to face Dumbledore accusing stare.
"I can give second chances to those who betray me. But not those who betray Hogwarts." He had never taken this tone with anyone before. Even Snape looked a little surprised.

Dee felt her knees go weak. He didn't believe. She wasn't getting another chance.

"What about Veritaserum headmaster?" suggested Snape lightly. Dee felt a surge of relief, thank God for Snape! Then something like a punch in the stomache.

"No..." she choked out. "I had to take the antidote a few hours ago when I was being interrogated...its still in effect...it won't work."

Dumbledore nodded silently and held out his hand. A tear slid down her cheek as she handed him her phoenix talon necklace. It was over. She had lost his trust. Sirius hated her, Remus too.

And as Dee walked back to Hogsmede, she completely forgot to mention that Voldemort had found out Lily's secret keeper.........[/i:343kz77g]

Only a few readers.....oh well, a few is better than none!

Back to the present.........

Dee searched the cloudy sky for a sign of movement. In her falcon form she could detect things more clearly than a human. From the corner of her eye she noticed a tawney owl winging it's way south. Shedived down from her perch in a magnificent oak tree and flew right in front of it, forcing the owl to land in a maple tree. It hooted loudly, but as it was smaller than she, stayed where it was.
I hope it can understand me as well as the others can. she thought.
"Hey skipper, whats up?"
The owl puffed out it's chest. "I'm on an important delivery for Albus Dumbledore, so would you please get out of my way?"
She tilted her head. "Can I see your letter?"
It gave her a disgruntled look and stuck out its leg. On it said
Phoenix
She nodded. "Where are you going?" she said in an attept to look innocent.
The owl twisted its head fully around to look for eavesdroppers than leaned toward her.
"He lives in this big house down in Bristol. It looks as muggle as you can get, but it doesn't fool an experienced post owl like me." it ruffled its feathers impressivly.
"Right. Bristol ya say?" Dee asked. This still doesn't tell me who it's for. It squaked in agreement. She suddenly took off, cuffing the owl sharply on the head with her wing. Stunned, it fell out of the tree and landed in the roots. She landed and transformed back to her human form. She picked up the dazed owl's letter and unfolded it.

Padfoot-
Remus has located Arabella on Privet Drive. Go to his house on 97 Ashford road on the 31st
-Fawkes

Hmmm, so they were back to code names. She put the letter back down net to the owl. It grabbed it in its beak, squaked ingignantly and flew off lopsidedly.
97 Ashford lane. Bristol. 31 July. "Got it." she said aloud.
Dee reverted to her bird self and headed home.

As Dee flew back through her window the first thing she noticed was the black owl sipping tea from her teapot. Hhe became human and the owl, taken by surprise screeched loudly and knocked the teapot off the table.
She shook her head and untied the black letter. The owl gave her a dirty look but stayed, obviously waiting for a reply
She glanced down at the silvery writing and her blood froze.

Dear Ms. Summers,
How long has it been scince youv'e graced me with your prescence? Over 15 years I'm sure. I would have spoken to your face, but I do not have time to play hide and seek with a traitor.
Death is the only punishment suitable for betrayal, that was the first lesson I taught you.
Yet my buisiness is concerned elsewhere for now. If you can give me the location of the next Order meeting,I will spare your life and greatly reward you. Refuse, and your life will be in forfeit. But I'm sure you will cooperate, you've always been a bright young woman.
You Know Who

*And do not think making your residence un-plottable will stop Lord Voldemort from gaining entrance.
75 Scotch street
Surrey

Dee calmly folded up the letter. So, he knew where she lived. The owl gave her a look and she pulled out a quill.

Riddle-
How many times are you going to come back to life? I thought we got rid of you the 3rd, or is it 4rth time.
How considerate of you to think of me, I'm touched. But I hope you realize that pigs will fly out your arse before I give you any information. Besides, do you really think Dumbledore would trust me, of all people?
-She who hates your guts

She re-read it, then, satisfied placed it in a purple envelope and handed it to the owl.
It flew out the open window into a light drizzle of rain
Dee sighed. Why is it that she was so stupid? He'd be after her with a vengence now. But he couldn't. She laughed shortly. In the 13 years she had been isolated she had perfected Animagi, like Sirius. No one knew about it except her. She smiled and started to make lunch.

As Dee opened the cupboard door, a thought struck her. What if they didn't know she was alive? Perhaps they had though she had died while serving for Voldemort, thats why they hadn't said word.
Dee pursed her lips thoughtfully as she applied jelly to her muffin.

"Dumbledore, if I came back, would you except me?" she said aloud. Probably not. She bit into her blueberry muffin and almostchocked. She spit it into her napkin. "Well that was unpleasant." She had bitten into some sort of custard cream. Dee inspected it carefully then smacked her forehead. Of course, she had bought them from Arthurs kids, canary creams they had called them. Dee snorted. She wondered what Arthur would do if he knew she was one of their customers...

All of a sudden there was a knock on the door. She paused. The only people who knew where she was wouldn't bother to knock.
"Phoenix member, Death Eater, hopelessly lost muggle salesman?" She peered through the curatains. Standing on her porch were 3 black clad men, a boy was accompanying them and he looked terrified. They had him at wand point. The knocking grew louder and impatient.
Dee flipped back her long lack hair and opened the door. The men foced their way inside, the kid furiously trying to escape. She walked up to the nearest Death Eater.

"What do you want Avery?" she asked impatiently. He seemed surprised that she knew him.
He pulled back his mask so she could see his face. A big ugly one at that.
Avery sneered. "You know perfectly wellwhy we're here. Our master wants you back. We will kill you if you refuse his offer again."

Dee smiled and pointed at a chair. "Take a seat."
They all sat down with their wands out. The kid hung back nervously.

"First of all, I already told your master that I wsn't joining. And second." She pulled out her wand. "I'd like to see you even ty to kill me."
Avery's face contorted. " Malfoy!" A second Death Eater came to hs side. "How mad would he get if I really did kill her?"
Lucius shook his masked head. "He gave specific orders that she wasn't to be harmed. Use the boy."
Avery turned to the kid who ducked behind a chair. "Oh yeah. Fine. Summers, come with us, or we'll kill the kid."

"WHAT!" she exploded, her hair flying out behind her as she marched up to him. "Thats not fair!"

Avery smiled smugly. " It our final offer. What do you think?" he turned to the kid. "Do you want to die Mr. Longbottom?"
