Aha you are quite right. However, the difference is not just with the choice of wood but the core as well.

Kagome's wand core came from a red phoenix we chanced upon on our procurement in Austria, while yours came from a blue flaming phoenix we found in the Alps. I thought it was an illusion, since there wasn't any records of a blue phoenix in any magical beasts books we had. Not only that, the flames around the phoenix did not melt the surrounding snow.
We managed to pluck a few of its feathers before it disappeared into the thick snowstorm. And there you go...

Of course, each of our wand core has a different story to tell

I was hoping you could solve my problem...
I used my wand in my last Accio charm. The problem is that the object that was brought took 5 minutes to arrive!!! FIVE! How could this be happening?
Here.. you can analyse it

*Hands wand to choki*

And, BTW, do you think you could crave some magical runes in the wand, or it couls affect the performance of my spells?

well, jarvan, here's a list to pick from:

8.5 inches, dragon scale, cherry wood

14.5 inches, phoenix tears, palm tree

10 inches, hippogriff claw, cedar

13 inches, leaf of whomping willow, whomping willow

have at it, jarvan!

now for dear Joto, who, if i remember right, has sat on his wand, and has had a lot of mishaps with it already. anyway, i'll see what i can do.

*goes in back room for 5 minutes. explosions, screams, and the crackling of flames is heard*

here you go, i've placed a speedy charm on it, which shall make it's accio perform better. also, i did engrave your runes on here, as you see. *shows Joto some odd symbols carve in a swirl around the wand.*
it means: "To the owner of this wand, I bestow the power of many."
