Since many of us here draw - I wanted to know, have you ever colored your drawings on a computer? And if you did - what tools you use (software, tablet,...)

I want to start learning how to color my sketches so I'd love to hear what everyone's favorites are.....if that is anyone on this board colors their art.....

ive never coloured a pencil sketch of my own since I dont own any decent software of that type.....

paint shop pro with a tablet is meant to be best i think....

i do have a tablet and i have used the default paint program and an oekaki website to make drawings from scratch with mouse and tablet.....

I never draw on computer because
1. I dunno how to
2. I dun think my hand will be as nimble when using a mouse

But I do colour my arts in paper...but I usually just shade them

yeah thats what most people use....photoshop and tablet.....the problem is they are soo expensive!

Choki - thats why people use Pen Tablet. Tablet is this um...little sheet of...plastic (lol i suck at explaining things) and there is also a pen.

U draw with that pen on a sheet of plastic and it shows up on your somputer. ^^ U can also erase things with another side of a pen.

The only bad thing about the pen tablet is........its $90!! the cheapest one!!

I found that there is a free software called "pixia" and its great for coloring....may be i will try it...

lol, i think my tablet cost around £30 but i got it for my birthday and it isn't very fancy, not a well known make and refuses to install properly but works as a mouse and for drawing...just dont get any of the fancy functions for microsoft word....

as for drawing...i find it easier to draw with the mouse actually although i thinks thats cos i had the long summer break on a slow computer where i only did pencil drawing and then came back to uni and tried to use my new tablet....i just cant coordinate what my hand does with the tablet to what i see on screen...

id love to get photoshop or something....it would be soo good for cleaning up my pictures before i use them in my shop....

ooo.....if it is good can i get a link for that pixia thing??

Well - I haven't used Pixia myself, I am going to try it this weekend.
But many people at my manga drawing forum said they use it and like it. Its a japanese program that has been release now in different languages.

Well, Im sure u can draw on it - but its main purpose is for coloring. U know, its far better then pencil - because u dont just color - u put in lots of shades , blend them...at the end you suppose to have your drawing that looks absolutely professional. U simply can't achive perfection of computer by using regular pencils... :( Which sux! because i dont want to spend too much time in front of computer either...

How shameful  ...I'm in your house, Mint, and I had no idea you were an artist! :o Are you going to scan any of your drawings and share them here? If not in here, at least in Slytherin!  Are there any other Slytherins who are artists? :???: Also, I would imagine coloring with a computer would be tricky unless you had a real steady hand and a program that was flexible and easy to use, but what do I know?

Lol, I still prefer drawing on a piece of paper with my old trusty mechanical pencil.

Gonna buy a scanner soon...if I am willingly to spend less on anime and manga :-?
