jk's writers block

Postby pinky p » Wednesday 5 November 2003 11:37:24pm

i've noticed that the books seem to keep having more and more time in between... it could be that they're getting longer, but i dunno... i heard she has writers block or something. a possibility?

Indeed, before the fifth book came out someone told me she had writers block. I hope not because waiting longer for the next one hardly seems bearable!

i cant remember, i think she did at one point, she certainly struggled because of the pace she had been writing before that....something like she had started writing the fourth book before finishing the third book and it all just got too much and came to a crashing halt for the fifth book, so i dont think you will see her get back to the speed she used to write, specially not now she has a kid....she will probably keep to the speed she wrote book 5 in....

Its true that the gap between each books getting longer, but I see why, now shes got a kid and all that she wont have as much time. And writings a really sort of anti-social job, its harder when youve got a more of a family, way easier if your single.

Maybe she just wants to enjoy life for a bit with her money. She said herself that she will be sad when she finishes the series.

it is hard finishing a series that you've spent so much time on. because while it's there, and unfinished, you can always count on yourself to write a little bit when your in a certain mood. i'm going through that right now with my 'The Dragon Master' series. i've spent 1.5 years on it, and i don't want to let it go. so it's not 'writer's block,' you're actually subconsciously blocking yourself from writing it because you can't let go...

hmm, perhaps
i wish that were true with my stories! i've got about a million stories saved on my computer, none of them finished! i don't think i can't let them go, i think i really do have w's b! (possibly). but then again, i work on a story once or twice, then forget about it, then a week later start another story and completely forget about the other one.... oh gosh i hope jk doesn't take any ideas from me! :o

Yes, she has a two children and a husband. Her gaps beetwen the books are getting longer, but I don't blame hr. She has to take care of her familie, be with her friends, enjoy her self and write when she has inspiration, because books written by force don't worth the same like the real ones. I hope she'll have a lot of inspiration and that she will write a great 6th book very quickly, but I know my hopes are wrong.

We will have to wit, and wait, and wait. Longer then for 5th book

She has two kids? I didnt kow that....I didnt know she had a court case either, but in that case you cant really blame her for taking all that time, but Im pretty sure we can expect the gaps to get longer and l-o-n-g-e-r. Well just have to wait.....*trots of to see if the great hall is off debug mode, while waiting for the next book*

Writer's Block / Waiting

Postby highsorcerer » Tuesday 9 December 2003 8:45:52am

The waiting could be worse, and it has been for readers of another popular author's seven-book epic, namely, Stephen King's Dark Tower. Consider these publication dates:

The Gunslinger (Dark Tower I): 1982
The Drawing of the Three (Dark Tower II): 1987 (5 year wait)
The Waste Lands (Dark Tower III): 1991 (4 year wait), cliffhanger ending
Wizard and Glass (Dark Tower IV): 1997 (6 year wait)
Wolves of Calla (Dark Tower V): 2003 (6 year wait)

Coming Soon

Song of Susannah (Dark Tower VI): Spring/Summer 2004 (6 month wait)
The Dark Tower (Dark Tower VII): Fall/Winter 2004 (4-5 month wait)

In all, a 22 year period between the beginning and the end of a seven book series.
