Wasn't there some talk a while ago of having things to identify different house members?
I think it would be neat if members from say, hufflepuff had a little huffepuff house crest in the thing where username and avatar and stuff are.

So basically, what I was thinking, and I hope there'll be no problem with copyright and such, that maybe your drawings of the house crests could be used for that, Sonkem? That is, if other people would like such a thing as well.

yep they could, although it depends what copyright laws you wanna use...i mean paul had no problem with my house crests and most other people dont but i cant actually put them on elfwood because they break the copyright laws elfwood chooses to use.....so it depends on paul really, whether that would bother him or not....

Thanks Sonkem - some general avatars would be really appreciated.

The Elfwood people probably have excellent copyright lawyers so I guess if they're saying House Crests can't be used, it's probably best not to use those particular ones unfortunately. Once the next-generation version of this board has been released, there should be a way of identifying, beside there post, which House any member is in

I'm hoping that there may also be additional functions which will allow some kind of pre-screening of images before they are used as avatars too so that people can use their own unique images that they have personally created from scratch (to anyone new to this thread, or unsure about use of images, please see previous posts in this thread for a definition of "from scratch") .

Which ones did you have in mind? The avatars in the Beings gallery are a selection of those available from the phpbb site, although there are more on phpBB which I've not included in the gallery at the moment and could be added.

oh...i just realized a while ago that many ppl have repeating avatars which wuz pretty confusing but now we have sonkem's gallary so that'z pretty good
i wuz looking at the php gallery at the php site and thought they had some pretty nice avatars so i wonder if u could upload them as choices ...or will it take up too much space?

As far as I know you can't, you have to use one of the gallery avatars....

Sonkem's right, most people have different pictures as there avatars...

The reason the avatar upload facility is diabled is because of the potential for copyright violations. If you have an avatar which you own the copyright or can prove you have permission to use, you can ask the forum admin, Paul, for permisson to use it. A few people have done this.
