Snape's secret

I was re-read book 4 today, and I noticed when voldermort is talking to the death eaters he says

'And here we have six missing Death Eaters ... Three dead in my service. One, too cowardly to return ... he will pay. One, who i believe has left me forever ... he will be killed of course ... and one, who remains my most faithful servant, and who has already re-entered my service

The first is Karakaroff, the last is Crouch, so the second must be Snape. So if that is the case does anyone reckon that he will have gone back to Voldermort, as i have thought for quite a while.
I mean if he is there to spy for DD, then in order to convince V that he is back on his side he must therefore pass on some information about what people are doing against him. He wouldn't be able to pretend that he didn't know anything cause he's a teacher at Hogwarts, he sees DD everyday, he couldn't know nothing.
So i do wonder what exactly it is that he's doing?!

Okies, well, I have my own little theory on this! (I'm sure that we've had a discussion about this before, prob in the pre-OotP Theories section though!)

Here goes... Since finding out about Crouch etc at the endof GoF, I, like alot of people, assumed that the second person that Voldie was talking about was Snape. It sounds like it prob is, right?

But then, JK has this nasty little habit of making things seem one way, without actually giving us any confirmation that it is so, the pulling us up later on with a correct version. Damn that woman for making me assume things that are wrong!

So, what if the DE Voldie was talking about wasn't really Snape? What if Snape is actaully spying on Voldie, like we've kinda assumed is his task for DD, yet he was one of the DE's Voldie passed over without talking to. Remember, Harry told us that Voldie didnt' speak to all the DE's there, so he could have been one of those ones, right?

Well, that's my little Theory on the matter anyways!

At this point, I think we should wonder about everything: there is nothing without confirmations that we can assume it's correct, but we can't either assume it's right.

However, I think Snape is just a poor little guy with a bad childhood. Sometimes I feel sorry for what he is...!

Actually that's a pretty good idea i mean at the end of book 4 it doesn't mention that snape didn't go back to Voldie, so he could well have gone durring the 3rd task.
And that way it would mean that he could still be spying on voldie, however that still doesn't explain what he would be telling V. He couldn't keep up lying to him for a year, ie without actually telling him some of the information of what DD was up to.
And i reckon that if Snape was in that close with V he woul dhave known a lot more about his plans....

i just thought... snape could be a real death eater! nah- dd trusts him and that would be much to evil, i think. snape is mean but he's just not evil, me thinks

I don't think that Snape is a real DE. that would just be too... I dont' know... wrong!

I would say that if he's spying on Voldie for DD, then DD woudl obviously know that he woudl have to make it credible, by telling Voldie things that DD is doing. So al long as h's not giving Voldie too valuable info and DD knows what he's passed on, it's all good, right! Also, he could pass false leads to put Voldie on the wrong track too!
