Harry's lackluster lament

He broke the mirror because it didn't work. He was in grief, and thought he had chance to see Sirius again. when it didn't work; he snapped, and broke it.

Kind of like how Sirius and Lupin tried to tell Harry that his father was simply immature, and not a bad man. What they all failed to realize is that while Harry is also 15, James never went through the horrors Harry has.

I hope in a future book Harry will see his father grow up into a kind and loving man, with Lily loving that man - not the one who showed off to get her attention.

I think it's really a sign of the times, the way Harry shattered the mirror when grieving; because young men are pretty heavily conditioned that way-to not cry, to not admit grief, to only get angry instead. Still, though, he did end up in tears pretty shortly after that scene. When he left the lake wiping his face on his robe sleeve after thinking of Sirius fighting off the dementors by that same spot, I was pretty moved.

I know!! I love the parts where Harry cries. like in GoF when he cries on mrs. weasley's shoulder in the hospital wing... i love that scene. i love a guy who can cry

right now i'm thinking of a lot of what ifs... how much could this have affected the book?

Maybe because human emotion is at the heart of the books. Love verses the love of power. Many comments are like that - the Dursley's telling Hary his parents died in a car crash instead of fighting evil. Neville's pain in telling the truth about his parents. Plus Harry's ulimate fights against evil in book 1 (the love in his veins defeating voldemort), book 2 (his loyalty to dumbledore giving him what he needed to defeat Tom Ridddle), and his love for his father and his best friends to keep Sirius and Lupin from becoming killers). Not to mention his willingness to lose the triwizard tournament for both Cedric (3rd task) and Fleur (2nd task).

He's earned his respect. Viktor Krum treated him as an equal in his quest for Hermoine (despite his age and reputatation as an athlete). Cho (and others) believed Harry's version of events after GoF, and stood by him to learn to fight evil. Even Dumbledore has admittted how proud he was of Harry and his batttles against evil.

In the end, I think evil will stand against love, and love will win.

Hi all,

honestly, I would be a little disappointed if everything ends in a Love VS Evil fight.
Of course it would be nice and pretty and anything you want, but 'm afraid I would find that "too easy".
I'm not really in a black and white philosophy, and i hope JKR will give us more subtility. Well I hope so.

But of course I think and I hope that love will play a part in the fight, I just don't want it to be the final answer.
