Gred and Forge :p

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Good post highsorceror!
I love Fred and George. I don't like the way their role has been down-played in the films.
I agree with everything that you've said, but I also think that it was "pay-back". They have been so vital to Harry - especially giving him the Marauder's Map. If he hadn't have been able to use it to help him sneak out to Hogsmeade just think how miserable he would have been.

yes, their role in the films have been down played. Oliver Wood is a more important character. But the twins are more important in Harry's life.

Fred and George were generous to Hary, and repaid him with the map (despite Ron's hurt). Harry was equal generous to the twins; giving him what they needed to start their shop.

HS - do you think that Fred and George will end up being the stereotypical gadget guys? Kind of like James Bonds M, or will their characters develop more.

I know your last post Huey was directed towards HS, but in an earlier post, I mentioned the possibiltiy of the twins being gadget gurus...they have the talent for it...and no one would suspect it because they could use their joke shop as a front...just a thought...any ways...sorry bout that...

Fred and George treat Harry like one of the family, as do the rest of the Weasleys. They would have helped Harry out whether he gave them the money or not.

No, I think Fred and George will be good businessmen, designing products they customers want. And you can't deny their talent - even Hermoine conceded their fireworks were great.

But I have no doubt that if Harry asked them, they'd design a magic device for him to help him. And perhaps it will happen. Lupin may be wrong in the long run - maybe a bag of magic tricks (like a portable swamp) might just what will help Harry take down great evil in the end.

I'm positive that a career at the ministry is Percy's own dream.

But how are Fred en George going to adapt to a 9 to 5 life of responsible shopowners without any authorities to tease?

I guess they'll enjoy thinking about all the trouble that will be done in their name by all their inventions....

Well, you have to kind of admit that there is magic which is tricky and skillful. The Weasley twins are good at it. A skillled witch like Umbridge couldn't reverse their spellls (or Hermoine's jinx).

Plus, you can't say jokes don't take skill. How about black teeth toothbrush paste? Funny, but not chemically complicated.

Plus, the twins are not without talent - a great deal of it. Their fireworks were the better than Dr. Filibuster.

And never deny success. They opened their own shop (a huge risk), and did their market research.

Finally, consider the Weasley twins with older brother Percy. Molly wanted Fred and George in the MoM (like Percy), but they rejected that. They opted to go into business. The twins still have the love and support of their family. Percy is a great source of pain to them. Molly must know by now that her wishes were not the right choices. Oh she wanted all three in the MoM, but only the one who did has turned his back on the family. The twins started a successful business, but remained loyal to their family.

All this, plus they were top-notch Beaters for Gryffindor.

Having said all this, Fred and George seem to be the exact same person. Looking through the books again, it seems that Fred has more to say than George, but that could just as easily be the other way around. I'd like to see some differences in their characters in the future

Fred and George are cool! I think they should have had longer roles, in the second movie

I am dying to respond to this so I skipped reading the previous posts and thought I'd reply first...then go back and read what the rest of you had to say.

Hermione made a comment in book 5 about F & G...I think it was her at least. It was something about them really being much smarter than anyone thought. Really, they have to be smart when you think about what types of magic goes into making the Skiving Snackboxes and other such things. They have to be good with potions, charms, spells, possibly herbology (sp?) and perhaps others. Soooo...I wonder if in the end, they may have a larger role -- say like in book 7 -- having to work some sort of magic for the MoM. Think about all those jars of stuff in book 5 at the MoM random rooms....there might be something that needs to be done, that is of utmost importance but thus far, no witch or wizard has been able to do it. And the task will be met by the least expected wizards ever, Fred & George. And this alone will make Molly & Arthur truly as proud as they could ever be.

I just adore the entire Weasley family (well, except Percy) and would be heart broken if JKR didn't find good use for the twins in the coming books. Now, I'm off to read the other posts.
