That is a very possible theory. It does seem that all of the people that seem okay turn out to be evil. (Quirrel, Scabbers)

And then other people like Snape and Sirus turn out to be okay.

I don't think that this is the case with DD and Voldemort. Everyone knows that Voldy turned evil at one time. Especially since I thought he was Slytherin's heir.

It's not toataly far fetched.

ahh. what if... DD is really voldemorts father/uncle. if DD deserted vldemort if may explain his evilness. maybie DD will discover his relationship to voldemort and decide to help him. then there would be misunderstandings and DD would accidentally kill Ron and Harry?. ok over active imagination. but you know what i mean?

As a writter, the imagery is too great. LV is pictured as so evil, a grey skeletor with red cat eyes, almost like Satan. I'm sorry, but no matter how long or greasy some one's hair is, that doesn't make them bad...its the eyes. Eyes are important to JKR's story, and those red cat eyes are too horrible to be good. However, DD twinkling blue are too wonderfully jolly to be bad. As for Snape and Sirius, I don't remember anything really vivid about their eyes. Sirius' were discribed as hollow and sad, but I mean azkaban will do that to a man. Snapes are cold and piercing but what mean teacher's aren't? Neither of their eyes scream evil. However, remember the basilisk? It killed with its posison yellow EYES. Eyes are where its at, people.

victorvantiel's theory is very similar to mine.

Looking forward to Book 6, I find myself wondering just who will be the DADA Professor. Since there is a new one in every book, and JKR seems to throw curves at us in every book, I think she might do something extrordinary in Book 6.

I think it is possible she will return Sirius from behind the veil, clear his name and make him the next DADA Professor.

It's a win-win situation. We all like Sirius. Harry would have his father-figure back, and DD would have a useful ally in the DADA position.

The sticking point is that Sirius is currently "dead".

We have been told that no one comes back from the veil. Well, we have been told loads of things that turned out not to be true. Why should this one item be any different. JKR's world hilights the impossible on every page.

Here is my theory about the veil. It is situated in the courtroom. It looks like it is used as a death chamber for the convicted. But wait! Siirius was never convicted. If the veil only imprisons the convicted, Sirius would not qualify. I know it's thin, but JKR likes to make us feel good after a tragedy.

Assuming my theory is correct, where is Sirius now?

After much thought, I have decided he came out from behind the veil after everyone left the courtroom. Doing this would insure that the Ministry would not be looking for him.

Where would he go? There is noone at the Burrows. He could go there and ride out the storm for a few weeks. Harry should send him an owl and see if the letter is deliverable:)

Once one of the Weasleys discovers him living in their home, he could get his name cleared and go to work at Hogworts - or go underground to root out the evil-doers.

Well, that took me the weekend to figure out. How do you feel about this?

A mod for this forum needs to move Colin's response (or this whole thread) to one of the Book 5 areas as it has major spoilers for book 5! :)

Lizzy,

When I saw where my reply ended up, I saw the mistake and asked Paul to move it, which he did.
