dumbledore is able to do things with his wand which even the examiner knows nothing about...he is the greatest wizard of modern time whereas voldemort is just the dark lord...

"Voldemort is just the black lord"

Well if it was so easy, DD would already have managed to get rid of him.
i'm not sure it's that simple.
May be DD is the greatest wizard, but VD canstill handle a good duel with him without being defeated.

When the seventh month dies..... at this time Neville was born, too.....
What, if Neville must kill Voldemort, and not Harry?

but i think neville will play an important role in the next book, as he did in the fifth

Neville, was born as the seventh month died in 1980 as was Harry Potter(coincedently my ex-girlfriends birthdays is 29/7/80!). He however was unmarked by LV and therfore doesn't have the power, spoken of in the prophecy, to kill LV.

I also am thinking that DD can't beat LV without Harry, therfore in a duel between them LV would ultimately win (when DD has run out of ornaments to block the AK curse!).

JK talks of a death curse, not mentioning AK which sets the desk behind DD in flames, so I don't think AK is the most powerful curse VD has, and also that DD would have any diffuculty countering AK. but back to the dueling, DD can't kill VD due to the prophecy, but that does'nt mean that VD can kill DD. I think DD could stand against VD for hours If he needed to, by the way, it is VD who ran away, not DD

LV may not have been running away; he may have been trying to leave before the MOM arrived and realised he was back. Personally I don't think he fancied the odds of him versus everyone who arrived shortly after he left and DD.

yeah, facing 50 wizards may be harder, but it could also be harder for DD who would end up spending more time trying to defend the less powerful wizards from VD's "mass destruction weapons" ... which could make it easier for VD ...

Its true that there would be more chance of somedody getting hurt with lots of extra wizards, but there would also be a higher chance of them hurting him. They are Aurors so they're not exactly defenceless are they. Apart from Fudge maybe, he always comes across as a bit of a retard.

yeah, all those aurors arent defenseless, and they know that with thier job there are a lot of dangers, so I'm sure that they wouldnt mind getting hurt or dying for thier job (otherwise they wouldnt have become aurors)

and fudge? I agree with Gypsy, he is a retard  and he probably wouldnt be that missed or be given too much sypathy if anything happened.

Blueberry, i think that 'EITHER MUST DIE AT THE HAND OF OTHER' means that either Harry must die at the hand of Voldemort, or Voldemort must die at the hand of Harry, which to me DOES mean that they can't be killed by others. If Voldemort must die at the hand of Harry, then he can't die any other way.

But anyway, if it weren't for this prophecy, I reckon Dumbledore would win against Voldemort in a duel. I am very worried though that Dumbledore won't survive til the very end. And if he dies, what will happen to Hogwarts? There isn't anyone else like Dumbledore! :(

Littlemissy, you say : "There isn't anyone else like Dumbledore! ".
Comme on, we don't know all wizard in the wolrd.
Of course DD is the greatest wizard, but I'm sure there are a lot of other who couls replace him. They wouldn't be as good as he is but they could still handle to work in Hogwarth.
DD is one of the main caracter but as we've seen, since bok 4 Harry must face one death among his friends and family.
We cannot be sure that DD will survive until the end. We'll just have to hope but knowing JKR, whe might surprise us.
Wait and see.

I think that neither Dumbledore or Voldemort could kill the other. Harry is the only one who can really kill Voldemort and therefore, Dumbledore can't. On the other hand Voldemort could theoretically kill Dumbledore but can't do it in practice since Dumbledore is so powerful, at least not while Dumbledore is on his guard as was the case in the DoM duel. However I think that in a duel Dumbledore would have the upper hand and could beat Voldie by stunning him or something like that, without neccesarily eliminating him entirely.

I thought DD dominated the fight in the MoM?!! Never saw him sweat until Harry got in the way. If it was just DD and voldy, Dumbledore would reign supreme!!!
