What were your favourite parts of the newest installment of Harry Potter? What did you like reading about best? :-)

There are so many things I enjoyed, but I think I'll let others go first, as I'm sure you'll spark my memories. To date, I think this is the best Harry Potter book thus far!

Looking forward to hear what (and who) you most enjoyed in 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'! :D

I didn't like Umbridge as a person, but I thought she was an excellent character, and I loved hearing about the most recent stupid thing she did.

My favorite part was when Umbridge banned talking to a professor about anything other than the subject that they teach, and Lee Jordan plays exploding snap in the back of the room during class and then tells Umbridge she can't scold him for it because it would be talking about something not related to DADA :-P.

Lots of cool parts in this one, for sure. I really liked Fred and George's pranks after DD left. Their exit scene was fantastic.

I really enjoyed the part where Professor McGonagall was talking to Harry about his future plans. She says
I should have made my meaning plainer...He has achieved high marks in all Defense Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher
I also liked the exit by the Weasley twins. Very classy and memorable

Another part I liked and thought was funny was when Sybil T. sobbed hysterically and said that it turned out Harry wasn't going to die young but was going to live to a ripe old age, become Ministry of Magic and have 12 children.

I absolutely loved the Occlumency scene with Snape. Where he's pushing Harry to try harder and it almost seems as if he truly wants Harry to do well. Oh, and when Harry saw into Snape's memories. My poor little, otrtured Snape...:(

And the scene in the Penseive. It was horribly sad and made me pity Snapeikins quite a bit, but it was a v. good scene. I liked the fact that James&Co weren't protrayed as heros, but as quite the opposite.

The fight scene between DD and LV. Was quite reminiscent of a certain Gandalg-Balrog scene in another book. ;)

I enjoyed many things, but I thought I'd focus on one or two at a time.

One of my favorite things (actually, people  ) in Book 5 were Professor McGonagall and Neville. Two very different people, but two people I had previously liked and, after book 5, gained a great deal more respect and admiration for.

Professor McGonagall's snarky remarks to Trelawney in book 4 always cracked me up, and she (McGonagall) was even more hilarious with Umbridge in the new book! I also really (especially in book 5) enjoyed McGonagall's fiery nature, loyalty to her students and the school, and her boldness...she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what's right. Shoot, she even defended Trelawney, and we all know how much she doesn't like her, and she was out there in full-force trying to protect Hagrid!

Neville, in book 5, really came into his own. You learned what had happened to his parents in book 4 and then realized, in book 5, how much he and Harry have in common. :D Neville really honed his skills and proved himself to be very loyal and brave . . . you can't help but feel for him for what he's suffered, yet he has such a good heart. Neville showed that although he may have been clutsy, he's always had a good heart and is very brave and strong despite what happened to his parents or maybe because of it. :-) Go Neville!

More to come, I am sure!

"It unscrews the other way." -- said by McGonagall to Peeves

"Give her hell from us, Peeves." -- Fred

"You may, perhaps, have wondered why I never chose you as a prefect? I must confess...that I rather thought...you had enough responsibility to be going on with."

Harry looked up at him and saw a tear trickling down Dumbledore's face into his long silver beard.

I'm in concurrence with Lizzy. I've like Professor McGonagall and Neville before, but my admiration towrds them grew exponentially in book 5. They were fleshed out wonderfully, and rose to the occasion several times in difficult circumstances, showing true courage and compassion. It was no wonder they're in Gryffindor.

Another character is Snape. I must confess that I didn't like him before, but after Book 5, I'm more sympathetic towards him and don't feel that Harry was right in irrationally hating him more at the end of the book... after all, he saved Harry more than once in Book 5, and no matter what Harry thinks, has nothing to do with Sirius' death. He has proven himself to be a loyal member of the Order, able to go above his own personal feelings when it mattered, except when he refused to continue teaching Harry Occlumency... but that is understandable during tht particular time...

And my favourite scene would have been the Quibbler's interview scene when Unbridge banned the paper, and everyone got copy of it instead. =P And the chandelier scene too. ^_~ Unscrews the other way indeed! =P

best parts

A) Fred and George's complete defiance of authority, and their dramatic depature.

B) Harry's confrontation with Malfoy at the end. Like he's going to be scared of a couple of Slytherin teenagers after fighting off Voldy and his DEs. Getting L.M. tossed in prison and his reputation trashed was just icing.

C) Harry's leadership of D.A.

D) Harry's past secrets revealed!

"It unscrews the other way." -- said by McGonagall to Peeves << thats one of my favourites 2! :D

I loved the bits where the teachers were not helping Umbridge - it really showed their disgust of her!

Best book so far! :D

I think that I'm just agreing with everyone else for the most part! I loved Fred and George's defiant leaving of the school! (what was Mrs Weasley's reaction???)

Also, I loved McGonagall and Umbridge fighting over Harry's choise of carrer, taht made me laugh so hard!!! (Though I did with that Harry had stayed around to listen at the door!!! I wanted to hear more of it!!!)

But also, I loved it when DD left his office! You seem to be working under the impression that I'll come quielty!!! HAHAHA indeed!!! (and also taht Umbridge woudnt' get into his office later on!!! hehehe!)

Also, teh teachers calling Umbridge to help with all the fireworks was damn funny indeed! hehehe, and McGonagall to Peeves!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The scene inthe pensive though just distroyed my illusions (as well as Harry's) about his parents, and I didnt' really like that.. I'm sure that we will know more about it,and it wil be for a good reason... but still... I didn't like it.. :(

i liked the quote about harry's not being a prefect, that Nothlit posted. it wsa really good.
The hwole lat chapters were awesomne. the MoM and the Dept. of Mysteries scenes were brilliant!

I loved the bit where Rowling describes how all the students were taking action against Umbridge after Fred and George's dramatic departure- that just made me giggle until my mom asked me what was the matter.

I have to admit, I also liked the bits where Sirius dealt with Kreacher . . . for some reason, I just found that really amusing . . . maybe it's just me . . .

God, my favorite parts?

Anything with Fred and George.
Anything with Professor McGonnagal.
Any interaction with the other teachers and Umbridge.

Any part with Dumbledore (except that last part in his office, the talking about the past and everything, which was great for the story, but wasn't AS cool as the rest)

The whole Ministry of Magic part.
The D.A.
Hermione and Ron.

This book just, added DEPTH to how wizards fight each other.. the whole MoM scene made it perfectly visible in my imagination as to how it goes. I absolutely loved it.
