yeah i noticed that harry doesn't ask very many questions when it comes to his past he just lets people tell him when the time comes and its really important.you would think he would be wondering about his parents and wouldn't stoop asking about it, but guess not.jo must have a reason for keeping very important details from us!

Yeah, surely. Well, we know that it will be very important that Lily's wand was speccaly good for charms, wonders if that has any to do with their job, maybe a special job of unspeakables like testing new ways on magic? (Can't remember what was James' wand good at, I think curses)

Anyway - what I meant was not that they thought against Voldie for money, as a proffession. I meant that they were so preoccupied going against Voldie that they didn't have time for work. (and James was rich to begin with)

just because there is no mention of their job does not mean that they are unspeakables, why do you jump to that conclusion, and if they are, how can u speculate what they do, if they work in the department of mysteries, which no one knows about

Yeah, we know, we were just speculating about what they could have been!!!
Also, someone had to know what they were doing, but it must ahve been kinda secrative I think, because otherwise I feel that Hargid would ahve accidentally told Harry alreayd, or Hermoine would have read about it in a book or something like that...
Basically, I think that if it wasn't a secret of some kind, we would already know about it!!! He's been there for four years already after all !

yeah, but i don't think that they are unspeakables, i think that they were working very high up in the ministry trying to catch voldemort and couldn't talk about it, i also think that this is what lupin and black were doing as well

yeah i think it was more sirius that would have possibly worked with them b/c i mean he was james' best friend.normally your firends are interested in the same things so it is a possibility

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was reasearching information about Unspeakables and what people thought about them, and I came over to this site.

First off Unspeakables do work in the Ministry of Magic. They are very highly ranked professionals, and in fact, IMHO, are the best kept secret out there in the Harry Potter books. They work in the department of of Mysteries. In which Harry finds out, about his past.

Not much is known about Unspeakables, and it is my bet that we will really not know too much of Unspeakables. Heck there are only two known Unspeakables out there - known to the book. I'm one of them And the other is of course Croaker. (That is the name Bode is there name - its who I named myself after)

As for the details behind Harrys Parents, again JK Rowling keeps all her top secrets, secret. I would even go far as to say, even she don't know that some of the information she has is a secret. But anyway thats getting off track....

It's very doubtful that Harrys parents worked for the Ministry. The reason behind this is rather simple. They went into hidding, simply because they were principle targets for LV didn't make them work in the Ministry.

Remember what was said when Harry was told about why one of the teachers was really hired? There were two boys two be born on the same day, one was Harry, and I beleive the other one was Nevile Longbottom. The reason why his parents are in the Wizard Hospital, he [DV] used a Dark Spell on them and well they where the end result, and Nevile was left unmarked.

Its LV who would 'mark' Harry - the boy who he feared (information from AD) - for it will be him LV will have his final duel with, and if Harry fails this duel, then LV would (in view of the prochey(sp).) Be left with no one to prevent him doing what he pleases. I don't recall if there was speific enough reasons at to why Harry was picked, maybe because of his mother Lilly Potter, giving her life to safe his?

The book leaves it open for a latter date in which JKRowling will (may) answer. Who does win that battle. It is clear however that if Harry was to have a full proper duel with LV, he would lose (info from a JKRowling interview)

Its my view that Harry, once trained, taught, and molded at Hogwarts will be a very powerful wizard, however, its a classic story of good verus evil. Who will win, well no one can answer that question yet.
