This time I agree with Holly (we should count how many times this happens (1)); Harry wouldn't use Sirius for all, in that case he would order Dudley to get him whatever he wants, or to Aun Petunia tu buy him new clothes.

Sounds strange, but happens once in a while.

What if Harry being in the flowers is the dream of someone else, like Ginny for example?

Very very good idea Neo!
I like it alot!

Maybe she is fantasising about him or something... you know how that always happens in movies, ie American Beauty and the girl is lying in the rose petals???

Very possible I think!!!

Well, she has had Harry dreaming about things, but that only kinda makes me more convinced! And someone did say that JK said that Ginny would get a much bigger role in OOTP!

Yes that's true. so maybe we can expect something like
"Harry was in the bed of flowers... and then suddenly the flowers transfigurated in Anacondas and Harry screamed, in that moment the little Ginny Weasley woke up of a terrible nightmare. It was the third time in the week she had te same dream, always about Harry..."

It could, or maybe Sirius.

Well I couldn't think of anything else, and murderer flowers didn't sound right.

From what I've heard by way of the audio excerpt on amazon.com Harry is being expelled from Hogwarts for using magic outside of the school again. It seems the whole ministry board is having a vote as to his fate. Something about Dementors and Hermione saying that they can't expel him if he was using magic in a life threatening situation. It could be that the dementors came about on Privet drive and Harry had to use his Patronus and passed out in the flower bed from the dementors. You can hear the clip by looking up the audio book version of OOTP. It's pretty cool to hear about Ron also. I doubt they'll need a new cast the way the characters are developing in the books.

Well according to what I've heard from book five so far Harry is close to being expelled for breaking the International Wizarding code for underage sorcery, and Hermione tells him there is a loophole for using magic outside of school in life threatening situations. He had to of used some sort of magic to ward off an enemy. I'm not for certain it was the Dementors but it just makes sense to say it was them. Thats the only reason I can see for having Harry (still not sure it is him) laying in the flower bed.

Please forgive me if this has already been said (I haven't fully looked through all 6 pages of this thread yet!), but are we sure the 'boy' is Harry? Didn't it say 'a teenage boy' and not Harry? Could it not be Dudley? Again, maybe that's already been said and discarded, and if so, disregard. :)

An interesting start to book 5 indeed! I'll have to go back and read all the posts in this thread.

i remember watching an interview somewhere with jo and she said the book is darker than all of the other books. so it would only make sense that something bad happened and whoever is left in the flower was not harmed by whatever happened
