yeah, they're definately stupid, but that's exactly why they aren't seen as a possible danger...see, Draco would certainly tell them anything, without paying attention to what they could give away. Being underesteemated can be a dangerous weapon. And I think it would suit JKR to show that even the smallest ones could make a difference.

Excellent point. I definitely see a recurring theme in all of these topics about ambition and power.

About Ron: I doubt that he'll be tempted to the Dark side. It just seems so cliché. The whole best friend stabbing the protagonist in the back, thing. But the Narcissa/Crabbe/Goyle thing is v. good. It would be highly unexpected (except by us ;)) and would be an excellent plot device. I've thought of Narcissa as being on the good side, but not really Crabbe and Goyle. Will have to think of that some more.

I don't think Narcisa will be good, several wizards have stated that "the whole Malfoy family is already rotten"

and about Carbbe and Goyle, I'm not sure they will tell info anyone, surely Draco knows they are so stupid he has told them not to say aynthing to anyone except him.

And Ron again toward Harry would be too much, maybe only for a girl thing they could have a samall fight, but not to the point where Ron changes sides.

The only person that has really stated that they're stupid are Harry, Hermione, and Ron. and, no offence to them, their interpretation of the two is a bit biased. I'm not sayin that Crabbe and Goyle are astrophysicists or anythng, just that they may be a little smarter than they're put off to be.

Oh, and just because Draco may have told them not to tell anyone doesn't necessarily mean that they'll listen. They may follow a lot of his orders, but I'm sure that if by questioned by Dumbledore, they might come clean.

no actually...draco says it in the common room....he says if they were any slower theyd be going backwards....which means he clearly thinks they are a bit stupid....i know harry and ron were being them at that point but but the statement kind of infers that they are always like that

Okies, this is a little off what we are talking about, but still on topic! *note, why I made the topic so vauge!*

What if Snape didn't really know that Quirell was working for Voldie?? Maybe he just though that he wanted the Philospher's Stone for himself??? After all, Harry etc though at first that Snape just wanted it for himself???

Just an idea...?

i thinks its a good idea. 8)

I don't know - Quirell did say it himself that Snape was trying to save Harry.

And JKR always leaves some sorta clues, and this time there where no clues that Snape intentions were different.

Also, why did he try to save Harry by saying countercurse when he was about to fall?

Snape said a coutercurse because Harrys dad saved his life once.
he had to clear a dept and because James was dead had to save Harrys life.

And I think if Snape had wanted the stone he would have had it. he is that intelligent,I think, that all these puzzles were no problem to him.
