Snape's deeds

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Hrmm, I think I just disagree. I think that he started as a follower, believeing that what people told him was right, then started thinking for himself and went to the light!

Good point Mist; but Snape is very smart to be a follower, he is powerful, he had the opportunity to enter in the highest ranks of the dark side, so he did.

I dont' thinkt hat he was a totally innocent follower, I think that he really enjoyed the power he recieved from beigna DE, butmore along the lines of he thought that what he was doing as a DE was 'right', becuase that's what everyone he loved/respected either did or believed...

I dont' think that most evil people reall think that they are evil... they ebleive taht what they are doing is the good and right thing to do...

But then... he realised that it really wasn't 'right' as such... and thus changed sides!

hehe, so you're an expert, Viper! Do you believe Snape was just a follower or did he truly believe in what he was doing?

Hrmm,I think that your missing what I mean by follower..

I do think that he beleived in what he did, but only because all those peopl ewho were imfluencial to him beleived it, and told him that it was right... so that tainted his belief structure...

I think that what I am getting at is that iff he was raised by people who believed differently, hewoudl never have gone to the dark side...

And although you could say that that's true for most people, it's really not... some people jsut ahve stuff like that in their nature, ie Barty Crouch Jr.. he was raised by good people, and I'm sure that the orphanage that took Voldie in didnt' go around telling him that mudbloods were evil etc etc..

I think that this is sort of how I see Draco too... They aren't totally evil people, it's just what they have been brought up to believe is right...

Whereas Lucious and Voldie... evil to the core... See, Lucious has passed that point where he would possibly start to qn what he thinks is right... Draco hasn't yet... and I think that it was at this point that Snape thought to himself... "no, what's I'm doing here isn't really right... Better go and change sides!!!*

Do I make sense??? :???:

i agree with a lot of what Holly said. i think Snape was smart, but he had goals for power and to be in good standing with his friends that led him to become a death eater. that sort of thing. i dunno what made him come over to the good side, but i think it was something important that made him realize he was doing wrong. however, he truly didn't want to become "nice" and that's why he is tough on his students.

YAY! I love it when people agree with me!

however, he truly didn't want to become "nice" and that's why he is tough on his students

I like this idea too... but then there was also that guilt theory that I kind of agree with too!

I disagree with you Holly (it's the first time, wow  )

We know that Crouch Jr didn't received love, Snape said that Barty should have paid more attention to his family than to work (lack of love may lead to the dark side); and Voldemort was treated horribly in the orphanage.
Itis just that you are evil because someone directly tells you (that would be Draco's case), but in general it is because you had a really hard life, without love and good friends (friends is which I believe helped Harry not to go the dark side)

No, wait; I'm not sure, maybe how you are raised is half the reason why someone can be bad, and the other half is something from each person. and Snape is not exactly good, I think he was forced to go to the good side (I'll have to think on this theory, sounds interesting)

OOH, just found holes in that theory Neo...
(nah nah!)

Barty Jr's Mum obviously loved him lots, after all she died in his place so that he could have a life outside of jail! And the Dursleys hardly treated Harry well, and he never really had friends until he come to Hogwarts, did he!!

:P
