I think of Sirius and when he's a dog he still aware of himself as Sirius. So I think that no matter what shape you are in, if you're a human you will still be aware of yourself as human. On the other hand though, I have no idea what happens if you get turned it a vase or something.

*First transforms into a bat, and then into a human being to get rid of the tail* You'll pay for that one Mint.

I don't think that animagi can have different options, think that Jo said in an interview that you transform into the animal that suits you characteristics, so it is only one.

Well, you can be aware of being yourself while being a dog, so that could mean that you can be aware of yourself being a ghost dog, no?

maybe u will be in the state of death as a ghost
look at Nearly Headless Nick he was close to beheaded
Bloody Baron in his silver blood...
there might be a chance if u die as a dog form
ur ghost form might just be a dog

hmm, maybe you're right. I didn't think about Nearly Headless and the rest of them. I mean, Moaning Mirtle was crying when she died and she hasn't really stopped. But that would suck to die as an animal and be stuck that way. :-(

Not necessarily, there are a lot of ghosts, but being a dog ghost must be unique; and it has advantages like being able to interact with muggles easier.

Yeah that's right, so it seems that it is very likely that the way you die is how you will be as a ghost.
Or maybe if you died in the animagus form you still can transform as a ghost.

It would take him a fair amount of time to become an animagus, right? And didnt' Hermoine say they didnt' learn about human transfigurations till 6th yr?

ok, lupin says it took sirius, james and peter the best part of three years to successfully work out how to do the animagus transformation, they only managed it in their fith year. lupin also says james and sirius were the cleverest students in the school and they needed to be to do it.

ok, so hermione is clever, and harry too....but over the last four years they have investigated and saved the philosopher's stone, investigated the chamber of secrets and rescued ginny, had the sirius black thing hanging over them, and then done the triwizard tournament

so in first year they spent their time prowling through the library looking for nicholas flammel.

in second year they were brewing polyjuice potion, hunting spiders and hermione was out of action for a large proportion of the year, not to mention the curfew on students they put in place after hermione was attacked

in 3rd year hermione had so much work for too many classes, and they spent a large amount of time researching hippogriff trials, and i dont think harry was really in the right state of mind for study.....and ron and hermione werent talking either.....

in 4th year hermione and harry were rather preoccupied with curses and spells that harry could use in the tasks

when do they have time to do the research required to be an animagus?? its never been mentioned by any of them....youd think there would have been a hint in one of the books if that was what they were doing in the minute amount of spare time they have between detentions and saving the wizarding world.

i mean its possible....but i seriously doubt it would happen and i reacon he'd chose to be a stag like his father not a golden gryffin if he did become an animagus...

Actually you do not choose your animagus form; it is the animal that "represents" you (so if Harry is Gryffindor's heir it could be a lion); but Jo said Harry won't become ana nimagus like his father (of course she could be tricking us, but I think she won't write Harry becoming an animagus)
