My username is based off a childhood tale: we'd just moved into our new flat when I shrieked for my mum. She came running in, thinking something was terribly wrong, and all it happened to be was me cooing over a spider- it had fallen on me from the ceiling, and was bigger than my hand! Since then, one of my many nicknames has been the Queen of Spiders. So, as may be now apparent, Q stands for Queen and Araignee means Spider in French. This was before I learned Latin, else it would be Regina Araneorum- Queen from the Spider's Nest.

My real name: My mum wanted to call me Laurel, but got persuaded to change to Lauren to avoid the teasing of "Laurel bush" etc. Elizabeth is a name in the family, it's my Great-Aunt's middle name as well as mine, and was the name of a very dear old lady who lived next door to us in our first Council flat who always cared for my mum and me in her own way. My last name is a bit more convoluted- depending who you talk to it could be Allam, Shaw or Quirke. Since I was 10 months old though, it has been Shaw and I intend for it to remain that way until I get married. (Hee hee ^.^)

Good work Scellanis (it reminds me a little of my fave artist Gary Tricker's work).
Really interesting reading where some of the names come from, mine is from Brian Lumley's vampire world/necroscope series of books. Wratha was one of the female vampires, I didn't care for her character that much but liked the name (vampires are incredibly cruel and evil in that series, there are few it's possible to like).
Q. Araignee, my partner is sitting laughing at me because I was reading what you wrote about spiders with a silly grin on my face, I love spiders! Scared of moths though :-? It's apparently possible to tell by my voice when I'm talking to spiders according to my family, if my mother is visiting the "babytalk/spider voice" will make her stay out of the room lol!

 No, no that sounds about right for me too. Whenever I'm chatting to a spider, my family all tend to melt back into their rooms and hide until we're done. I went visiting a few weeks ago, and my brother mentioned that he hadn't seen any spiders since I'd left. I come back for just under a week and what happens? Two or three a day, including a few that seemed to just fall out of my hair randomly.

Would you happen to be the modern goddess of Arachnids, by any chance? Not that I believe in the stuff, but you seem to be pretty close.

Well, you never know...it would explain an awful lot...

This may be something worth exploring, if just for a roleplaying character at some point. I do enjoy a good mystery of any sort, but that may just be the scientist/pagan in me.
