There are quite a number of new reviews on Amazon USA and UK now. I'm happy to say that they are generally very positive, although I did recently hear from someone in Denmark who didn't like the book at all Actually I feel really bad when that happens as I obviously want anyone who takes the time to read the book to enjoy it. But I have come to realise that The Magic Lands is a novel that has a certain kind of appeal. Because it's surreal, quite dark at times and has a strong spiritual dimension (it's been called eveything from Christian to Pagan so far!!) this could put some people off, particularly as it starts out seemingly as a children's fantasy adventure story. Hope to hear what a few of the people on this forum think of the book soon!

Well its taken a wee while but I've hit the stage where I can't put the book down. I love Dredger...

Possibly took me quite a while to get into it because its such a different more complicated writing style to Cornelia Funke, was reading Inkdeath before and I reacon its aimed at a younger audience...but now I'm used to the writing style its a good book.

My school librarian just spent fifteen thousand dollars buying new books for the library. The Magic Lands is on that list. So, as soon as the school year begins next year, I'll be reading it.

That's great news about the school getting The Magic Lands!! :)

As for reviews, I think they sound much more difficult that they need to be. If you look at the ones on Amazon, they vary from long and detailed to short and to the point. I don't think it's even important to talk about the story if you don't have the skills. If a reader just says what they liked about a story that might encouage another reader to give it a go. But to be honest, I'm just really happy if someone who reads the book enjoys it!
