Ghosts

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

Taken from the HP Lexicon:
Ghouls are slimy, buck-toothed, ugly creatures which live in attics or barns of wizards. They are dim-witted and are content to throw things around now and then. Ghouls are relatively harmless creatures who live on spiders and moths. A ghoul lives in the attic of the Burrow, just above Ron's room. The ghoul makes noises a lot.

So I guess that ghouls have a more solid form than ghosts do. Anyway, I would assume that only wizards become ghosts. Like Mint said, it would be incredibly confusing to die and find yourself in a world filled with magic! I did read an interview where JKR said that Book 5 would reveal what makes some wizards turn into ghosts. 49 more days...49 more days...[/quote]

If Jo mentiones that we will know what makes a wizard become a ghost tehn maybe only wizards become ghosts.

I am sure that it doesnt' say anywhere in the books that the ghosts were wizards/witches once... I'd never even heard of that till I read this thread...

But, you'd think that if NHN was a wizard, he would have been able to have done sonething to stop someone tryingto behead him 45 times *or so* with a blunt axe??? And I can't see the person who was trying to cut his head off being a wizard either, otherwise he would have done something more effective then beheading with a blunt axe...

ah, so glad I have people agree with me for once.

Is it just me or in the last movie in "extras" there was a deleted scene where Harry was sitting with a ghost lady who was "holding" a book?

It the movie the book was made of the same 'ghostly stuff' that she was made of, but there was no mention of anything to do with that in the books... the movie people just made that bit up!

yeah, they never mentioned anything in a book....I just thought that may be that was a mistake they made in the movie.

How cool - ghosts have their own "library" of ghostly books  I think that was the reason why they cut that scene out. :D

Most probable s Mint making it up.
However, Jo revises every detail of the movie, so maybe the book wasn't an accident, maybe we will know more about this lade ghost (I think it is the ghost of Ravenclaw, since Jo admitted it was the ghost lady that appears in book one (I don't remember too well))
And about NHN, maythe 500 years ago they have this kind of ways to kill wozards (among wizards of course), maybe things weren't that civilized.

I was just joking - hence the  face.

But you never know - they did consult her before making the movie, may be she told it exist. Or, like I said, that was the reason why they cut it out.

Its such a minor detail, I don't think she will talk about that...it would be cool to know though.

Yeah it is cool to know, but Jo said she will care for details that are clues for future books to appear in the movies also, and maybe that ghost has a more important role in the future (and the book too, maybe), but didn0t want to be that obvious so take out from the original movie.

I'm more inclined to believe that they just put that scene in there for the sake of it, then JK told them to cut it...

Or just that they cut it for time. I really don't think that there is any signifigance to it. Anyways, isn't hte grey lady the ghost from either ravenclaw *which I think* or possibly huffelpuff? What would she be doing the Griffindor Common Room??? Yeah, I definately think the movie people just put it in!

I belive that the ghost of Hufflepuff is alredy mentioned, I don't remember his name (if somebody wants to check it I'm sure it is in NHN party in CoS). And yeah Jo confirmed that the grey lady is the ghost f Ravenclaw (I heard rumours that she is actually Rowena Ravenclaw)

Okies... so what would the grey lady, possibly rowena ravenclaw, be doing in harry's dorm???

if the rowena ravenclaw thing is true, has anyone noticed that we are being sort of introduced to little bits of the four founders... salazar with the chamber of secrets, godric with the sorting hat and that sword, rowena ravenclaw's possibly being grey lady... hrmmm, huffelpuff is missing... wonder when we will meet some bit of his past??? :D

Witches/wizards were heavily persecuted by muggles where they would be burnt at the stake and such. This was during the dark ages before the magical community decided to go into hiding and conceal their existence from muggles. It's mentioned briefly in the Quidditch book I think. So, depending on how long NHN's been dead he could have been killed by a muggle.

I'm not sure, because if he was ging to be killed by a muggle he could have dissaparated, no?
