well...i was dissapointed in the series that the basalisk was a snake...cuz a basalisk is actually a really big lizard...big...deadly...lizard

ARGH big scary monsters! But your right, it is a big lizard thing. Mind you, there wouldn't be anything to do with Slythering is it wasn't a snake.
I thought Basilisks turn people to stone aswell- not petrify them

I think that even though a baskilisk (however you spell it) Is really a big lizard.......i agree a snake is alot more fitting for the whole Slytherin thing....... and there is one thing I dont understand.. Ginny isint the heir of Slythiern so is the only reason she could open the Chamber is becouse she was possesed by Tom Rddle? a.k.a Voldemort.
