New Prefects

Students in Harry’s year will be chosen as prefects in The Order of the Phoenix. Who will they be? Hermione is an obvious choice methinks.

True Hermione will be one, how many are in Hogwarts anyway?
I suspect there are two from each house, so I think that Draco will be one (Snape being in Slytherins house will name him as one). Besides this I believe it could be anyone.

and i'll guess harry, cause none of the other rising gryffindor 5th years have better grades than him

We are not sure of that, we only know that he does pretty well in DADA.

We also know that he always 'thinks' that he is going to get a really bad potions mark... but that doesn't necessarily signify the reality of the sistuation!

btw, who picks out the prefects? DD, head of house, or what do you reckon? Because if it's the head of house, I reckon that Draco will definately be one, but if its Dubmledore... maybe he won't?

So maybe the Heads of House pick out a bunch of candidates and send them off to Dumbeldore then he picks from that lot???

Or the students get to vote. That was the case when I went to school.

Yeah actually, that was what happened where I went to school too.. But it just 'mysteriously' worked out that some of the people we voted for, the ones the teachers didn't like, just 'happened' not to get it... Funny that???

I think it is more likely to be the head of each house, as theoricaly they know more about the students and will choose the better prefect.
And for example if te students voted for Neville, I'm not sure teachers will let him be a prefect.

Hermione is the obvious choice from Gryffindor. But in addition to her, I think it would be Ron of Harry. Harry's has always gotten the attention (in Quidditch, etc.) so I'd really like to see Ron do well as something. Or it could even be Seamus or Dean. We just don't know to much about them.
From Slytherin it would have to be Draco, as he's the only one we know much about. Definitely not Crabbe and Goyle. Perhaps Pansy Parkinson seeing as how she's the only other Slytherin whose role is developed.
The only Hufflepuff I can think of is Justin Fintch-Fletchly. There's also Ernie something and Susan Bones. But we know so little about them it's hard to tell.

In conclusion, 50 days is seeming longer and longer away...

I wonder if Cho Chang is prefect from Ravenclaw?; if she is that means that Harry can get an easy opportunity to talk to her something like that in the next book (if he is a prefect too)

I don't think Cho Chang is a prefect of Ravenclaw . . . it's never mentioned, and I think her chance would've passed already since she's a year older than Harry, wouldn't it have?

She could be the prefect, and Jo never mention it during GoF; there wasn't a really momento where it fits.

I don't know, but I think that it woudl really lack imagination or creativity if all the characters that we know well from Harry's grade became prefects... I'm not sure why, but it would jsut seem rather lame, and I dont' think that JKR would do that...
