In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we see some major flaws from some typically "practically perfect in every way" characters. This is especially the case with Dumbledore.
Did the fact that you saw his flaws make you respect him less, or did the fact that he had these flaws, owned up to them and did what he could to set things right make him even more admirable in your eyes?
Personally, I didn't respect him any less. In fact, I actually respected the integrity of the character much more because I know how difficult it is to change, and there's no denying, Dumbledore did a complete turnaround.
