Snape:Good or Evil?

Within the first seven lines, we find out Snape is still givng over info. Then we learn that when the Order's plan to get Harry is discovered it is Snape who ssentially gets kudos for it. Is he starting out evil and turning good, or is it the other way?

Amazing Snape. He kept his word to Dumbledore throughout, even though Harry's very appearance tortured him.

At the beginning I was like ..." *gasp* He IS evil..." but then thought.. nope theres still much more of the book to go. And then only right at the end of the book do we find out he's good.

I think the whole twist with Snape was really well planned out, information has been planted for ages but never fully revealed.

*lays down wand* Yup, Snape really was good. I thought he was evil, or only cared about himself. But I really liked the way the Snape story was carried out! It was so well written! I really thought he was evil, right up until the end.

just a quick question when harry got attacked by the snake they put something on it why didnt they help snape? or was it too late to save him? it did make that much sense to me.

I think it was too late for Snape, bite to the neck....specially as the snake was trying to keep Harry in the room but trying to kill Snape, she'd have used more venom and gone for a better more deadly place...the neck being nice and close to the heart. Snape might have managed a cure, possibly Madame Pomfrey but not Hermione or Harry, they knew almost nothing about healing. He would not have been happy alive anyway, people would probably still have hated him and Lily would still be dead.

Yeah, it was too late. Plus, Harry needed to see those memories. I'm assuming they wouldn't have came out if Snape hadn't have died.

Well Snape could have removed them the usual way using his wand....but then Snape would have had to have been alive and present while Harry watched his innermost embarassing secrets, can you imagine the humiliation and pain it would have caused Snape to show Harry Potter how much he loved Lily....definately think Snape was better off with the way Harry got the thoughts.

It definitely brings a completely unforseen (for my part anyway) twist on the chapter in OotP, entitled Snape's worst memory. I now think that it was his worst memory because of what he said to Lily.

Yes, good point, yes that would be it, his worst memory not because James beat or humiliated him but because he lost Lily forever that day.

Yeah, you're right about Snape's worst memory! I hadn't even thought of that. Everything's just coming together now!

If Snape had removed them the usual way while in the Shrieking Shack, Voldy would have seen him doing it and known that Snape was on Harry's side. Then Voldy would have killed Snape anyway.
