Aberforth

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Aberforth

When Aberforth showed up I was so excited.. DD was dead and yet, in a way part of him was still there in Aberforth. He was pretty cool too, more gruff than DD but totally awesome. And in Hogsmeade all along!!! My word!
It great learning more about DD's life and his family.. even though some of it was a little 'eye-opening' so to speak.. always wanted to know more about Aberforth, and know we do. Great!

What exactly happened between him and the goat? i can remember it being refered to just not what exactly happened, or is it something that cant be printed in a book read by children?
it made me smile that his patronus was a goat tho.

thought it was good we got to meet him and i liked the way Dobby was living with him. (poor Dobby ) :-(

Didn't we already know that he was at the Hogs Head? I knew from somewhere but I'm not sure where.

All I remember was that Dumbledore once said (on hearing about the DA meeting) that he was "friendly with the barman"

Perhaps though :D

Well after the movies came out I've kindof just skipped over rereading any of the books up to GoF and so don't remember these tiny little details.

The whole "Seeing the blue eye in the mirror" thing had me as fooled as Harry was about it! I kept thinking that maybe Dumbledore had somehow faked his death and that Harry really was seeing HIM but I liked the twist of it being his brother.

You didn't realize in OotP that Aberforth was the bartender at The Hog's Head?

There were some pretty obvious clues (Dumbledore mentioned at the hearing that his brother got in trouble with the goat, and the bar smelled vaguely of goats, and in HBP, he was at Dumbledore's funeral).

I liked getting to find out more about Aberforth, he wasn't anytihng like I had guessed he would be (I kind of imagined someone just as eccentric as, but less established then, Dumbledore).

And curiosity has always gotten the better of me -- WHAT THE HECK DID HE DO TO THAT GOAT?!?!?!?!?!

seeing that his patronus is a goat... i doubt he was doing bad magic to the poor goat...

perhaps a malicious rumour to discredit him?

on the naughty thought... his love of goats *ahem*

He was doing expiramentalk spells on them, Choki! Nothing like that!
But I never realized all of these goat references. I remember that Dumbledore wasn't sure that he could read because the Prophet was putting him down about the goat thing and he didn't seem to care.

I don't know what I think about this quote. My initial reaction ws to think how aweful it was that Dumbldore would refer to his brother as the barman and not say the barman is my brother and that is how I now what goes on overthere. Then I think about their relationship and remember that I though they were astranged. Did they start speaking again and if so was it ever so often or more frequently? What do you all think?

but what was Aberforth's real intention to set up a bar at Hogsmeade?
could it be that although estranged, he wishes to patch up with Albus and hence made a move to set up a bar near Hogswart, and perhaps that was how they reconciled or something.
