Uncle Black...

Postby Simatra » Saturday 24 February 2007 9:48:19pm

From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ch. 6, pg.111:
Where did you go? asked Harry.
Your dad's place," said Sirius. "Your grandparents were really good about it; they sort of adopted me as a second son. Yeah, I camped out at your dad's during the holidays, and then when I was seventeen I got a place of my own, my Uncle Alphard had left me a decent bit of gold - he's been wiped off here to, that's probably why - anyway, after that I looked after myself. I was always welcome at Mr and Mrs Potter's for Sunday lunch, though."

Who is this Uncle Alphard? Could he possibly be another RAB suspect? Maybe there's more than one reason he was wiped off the family tree... All the clues that point to Regulus Black, Also can apply to Alphard Black. Someone said not to long ago that they heard that JKR was impressed on how we discovered the "Locket that wouldn't open"

Thoughts and idea's?

So it really is the locket? Ikind of doubted that thinking that it was just a little, unimportant, detail. Maybe that J.K. Rowling didn't think of Horcruxes then.

Maybe his name was Regulus Alphand Black, but because of the way Sirius's brother turned out, he decided to go by Alphand?

It could be the otherway around with the other Regulus though?

I'm going to go see what these names mean. That might give us a clue....

I never really thought of this. I had spared Uncle Alphand a thought, but just as Sirius's good uncle. Not as R.A.B. And I have heard somewhere that there will be some new characters in this book????

Alphard has always been the name that I assumed was the 'A' in 'RAB'.

Regulus Alphard Black.

Yes. RAB.

They could share that name. And I found out that Regulus means spirited and fiesty and strong and independent and I'm still looking for Alphand. Help! :o

JK has already stated that she doesn't want to introduce any new characters into the last book.
I think that Uncle Alphard is more likely to be RAB because his character is more obscure that Regulus. If it was Regulus that would just make things too 'nice' and obvious for JK. I also think that JK has probably read everybodys theories about RAB being Regulus and therefore is less likely to make it him even if she were planning to. She probably wants it to be more of a suprise than that.

Actually, I like that theory. Unfortunately, Alphard needs an R.

But you haven't quite convinced me... Regulus is still my pick.

Regulus is just to easy, and Alphard could explain all the other thoughts for him.

Alphard could always just be his middle name. There are a lot of people that always go by their middle names rather than their first. I know at least five!
And Regulus Black is the only RB thats ever mentioned in all of the books, so it really would be very obvious to be him. But if we look for AB's instead of RB's that would open up a lot more people.

Well, she's already mentioned him, so he might not count as a new character. I've already said the, "Middle-Name", possibility, and I still stick to it.
Amanda Bones is an "AB", but she's only 17.
I think that RAB sounds more mysterious and magical than ARB.
