I think he's dead. He seemed to acknowledge it.

R.A.B = Regulus ??? Black

He says that Voldemorts going to kill him and Sirius said that Regulus had died. But also mentioned that in his opinion Regulus was not so high up and it probably wasn't even Voldemort that killed him.

We know that whoever found the Horcrux, is/was a DE. Simply because, I don't think any other wizard rather than Dumbledore, Harry, Ron and Hermione know about Horcruxes and the tone of the letter suggested that the author knew Voldemort.

I also think that it's likely that Sirius played down his younger brother's Dark activities due to shame. Harry had been really shocked and dismayed to know that Sirius was so strongly connected with the dark movement. Who wouldn't try to distance themselves?

I think that Harry needs to find out more about Regulus just in case Regulus left clues to where he had been looking.

And I don't think that Regulus pulled a Pettigrew.

firstly about the translation - its really weird cuz actually there shouldnt have been any problem - in translation u dont translate names - black in hebrew for example is called black - not shachor as is the hebrew word for the colour... so it could mean several things: a mistake by the translator, a false clue that jkr put in order to mislead us, or maybe the b there is for black - but black the word not black the name or for that matter any other word that in english starts with b and in that language starts with what ever other letter the made it there... fortuantely for her my sister already knows enough english so she read the 6th in eglish (cuz translation sucks) unfortunately for me i dont therefore have the hebrew version of hbp so i dunno how the r.a.b is translated to hebrew

Well it could also be something else. Like some kind of a nick name or somethig like that. Something that Voldemort knows what means, but only him and maybe some DE. That would make it hard for anybody else to figure it out.

i dont think it has to be something that only vol would know since as far as rab is concerened vol is the only one whod read that note...

Here's an outside theory - perhaps RAB is none other than Rab C Nesbitt...

It could possibly be a group of ppl. kind of like the Order, or it could be 3 ppl
ex. if it was Harry, Ron and Hermione they would sign it H.R.H.

I know that the note was written as tho it was written by only one person but it could have been a plan to confuse Voldimort.

Or it could be a fake name :grin:

I saw on one site (I think it was Mugglenet), that JKR said that Lupin didn't have a twin brother named Romulus.

Its' not- JKR has already said so herself pretty much - go to mugglenet and look at the interviews she gave after HBP came out last year. She said that Regulas would be a fine guess.

In this instance, I think yes. The interesting thing won't be the name and the fact that it's Regulus; the interesting thing will be the story behind Regulus and his death.

And that won't be simple.
