ok this is quite far fetched but i saw someone mentioning remus in association to r.a.b (i think he meant regulus and got confused)...
it reminded me that prior to book 4 i think there were talks in a different forum about lupin having a brother (maybe a twin) called romulus (like in the legend about rome with the wolf) who will it was rumoured, teach dada in book 4. then it was changed to book 5 or 6 and i dont know what else became of that rumor (obviously it didnt come true), but i remember it was supposed to be quite strongly based
so maybe this romulus does come in to the book only in book 7 and as r.a.b, i know the last name doesnt fit, but as someone wrote in a different r.a.b thread the .b could be another middle name not necessarily the last name, or maybe he changed his last name cuz he went over to the dark side...
what do you say? any chance this could be remotely right? and do you remember that rumor or know anything else about romulus?
JKR has also dispelled the Lupin twin as it it too much like the mythology of the twins being brought up by a wolf. She's too smart for that (even though i missed Lupin being Lupine....)
Hmm... well the evidence for Regulus is really quite highly stacked at the moment. The fact that in the different languages the initials change to fit Regulus' name in those other languages... and everything.
Rags And Bones... Rags And Bones!!!
I still prefer my R.A.B theory that whoever named himself/herself R.A.B was probably old and powerful. (It took DD how many years to find that location)
And that by the time anyone would discover the horcrux (including Voldemort himself), R.A.B will be long gone from the world of the living. Hence, Rags and Bones!
But how would the translators know who is R.A.B? Did JKR reveal to them?
R.A.B are initials or acronym...
I mean it doesn not necessarily stands for a name

Her publisher will have had to proof read and would therefore have organised that. Her publisher has probably had meetings with JKR to discuss timelines etc of book publication and she would probably have to submit concepts and drafts to them during the writing phase. At least some authors do this anyway, whether JKR does, who knows?
It's a clue to what could well be a pivotal plot point. She'd have to ensure it didn't get lost in translation, and that would mean sharing certain info with the proofreader so they could liase with the translator. It's neither a coincidence nor a mistake.

Well it could also be something else. Like some kind of a nick name or somethig like that. Something that Voldemort knows what means, but only him and maybe some DE. That would make it hard for anybody else to figure it out.
I for one mostly agree with the theory about Sirius brother. Though a little surprise wouldn't hurt anyone.
