Olivander and Wands

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

good point. do they snap your wand when you are a convicted death eater? obviously you can't keep it with you in azkaban... i hadn't ever thought of that. ollivander would be useful to them if that is true. scary thought...

I love the idea of Ollivander being An Evil Lord. I never noticed that. The thing is he was a great friend of Dumbledore's which kind of puts that theory out for me. But it is intriguing all the same.

Quite a cool theory, certainly hadn't noticed the anagram...

But Olivander wrote to DD about HP having the brother wand as soon as HP bought it. Surely he would have told LV, not DD if he was a baddie.

Exactly. That's why he probably isn't an evil lord. I wonder whether JKR intentionally put that in just to throw us off scent?

Think of what he could've done to Harry's wand in the Triwizard Tournament. Any sort of enchantment to help him get throrugh all the tasks, then they would'n've have needed Crouch.

Er, I can't believe it..

But... the anagram? It seems to... fitting, the anagram I mean. But not Ollivander actually being an evil lord...

I suppose it could work..

How do you know Ollivander can enhance wands?

Err think Bextra was probably just speculating but here's another hoot!

There's been so much theorising about the similarities of HP and other stuff that's been out there - e.g. LOTR and Star Wars stuff.

How about this new one - the master and apprentice!! LV and Olivander in partnership.

An unlikely story and one I'd hate JKR to put in!

Hehe. Who's the master and who's the apprentice? I don't think Voldemort would agree with being a mere apprentice for that long.

Btw, there are some more interestingg anagrams of his name:

-Iran led Vol, which might tell us something aout Voldemort's allies.
-I, Land Lover, which might tell us that he's just gone for a holiday in the countryside, but most interesting:
-Evil Ronald. He might really be an evli master, and his apprentice is Ron :o

I think that maybe Voldemort took revenge for not telling him his wand had a brother, but then I guess he wouldn't have disappeared but found dead, rather. Making wands for DEs makes sense, but then again, they all had wands in OotP.

I don't think so. It's a wand, that choose a wizard, not on the contrary. We could clearly seen it in the 1st book, when Harry was buying his wand - and as I remember, Olivander said sth like that.
So I do not think that making special wands for DEs is possible.

Ollivander, Ollivander...

The thing is, if he's evil, JKR has done pretty much nothing to disguise it. From the instant we meet him we get an odd feeling.

But I just don't think it's an evil feeling. Just a wise one.

He says Voldemort is a great wizard... which is true - he is. Just as Voldemort admits Dumbledore is also a great wizard.

But he knows the difference between great and good...

The Ollivanders have been making wands for centuries - it's what they do. The shop is in Diagon Alley, not Knockturn - that's all I need to know to know he's not evil.
