Oh, yep...

Adsphdel: Well, I can't say I'm surprised at all.

Bextra: Yes, that makes you eligible for Paul to look at you and make a decision.

Just place a request.

Asphodel wrote:I did like ten forums. You guys were the worst :D . Part of the problem was that I found that in small forums, like this one, people become to close to one another, and share way to much information. Even if you say your favortie restaurant is "The Mad Burger" (made-up restaurant) and say the Mad Burger is only in the country of Canada, then they've just narrowed you down. People can also use a software called WebRoot to see all of the information you enter (including when you log in) so if your password is your address....

Well I would never give away anything that is my password... Other than that I don't see naming your favourite restaurant or your native town as a risk or am I wrong?

Well I suppose it is if you live in a city because they could track you down by it...but then again if you never told anyone anything on a website ever in fear of mad stalker finding you you could always just die of cancer or being flattened by a bus anyway so in some ways you may aswell just be friendly and join in the convo so long as you trust the website.

Just be carefull with things that relate to passwords, your email address, things like that.

I think I'm pretty much beyond all help as elfwood requires full name before it'll let you upload anything so my name and photo is everywhere anyway. I'd like to see the stalker find his way to my house though, I think he may get eaten by a cow or lost in a muddy field somewhere instead....

Asphodel, if you think forums are bad you should do a study on websites like mypsace, faceparty and facebook (all though facebook is better as only other students at your uni and people you list as friend can see your details)

Oh no, I don't me that myspace isn't as bad as forums. Forums are much safer, just don't get too secure in them. I mean on myspace I've seen people displaying their pictures addresses and everything. And what with recent scandals involving prison convincts in jail for you-know-what having access to the internet...

And it's probably smart to do all of the above.

Thanks for all the interest in Moderatorship. I'll be dealing with the requests shortly. I've just done a few searches about webroot by the way - looks like a benign program to remove spyware and scumware. In what way can it allow passwords to be viewed?

Okay, here's my official ummm, request? Can a be a Moderator? I really wanna see my name in green down the bottom when I'm on. But don't get me wrong, that's not the only reason I wanna be a Mod.

Okay, sorry for the interruption but it might not have been WebRoot, but I know it was Web something, I'll need to check that out. And I know it's not malicious. It has a purpose for protecting from spyware, it's just that it can be used maliciously.

That's the thing... most good things with power can do just the topposite to which their intended in the wrong hangs.

Most of the worst events in history spring from people with good intentions that have slowly become twisted.

Yup.... oh and I checked... I think it's like, an old version of WebRoot or something. They found the problem, and the new versions of WebRoot can't do that.
