If Hogwarts closes everyone'd end up being home-schooled anyway, so they wouldn't end up with no education at all... but it wouldn't be the same.

I think Slughorn would stay, simply because I think over the course of the year of his return he got addicted to the place again.

Wouldn't it be interesting if it wasn't McGonagall that because Headmistress after all, in due time when the school councellors elected?
Imagine if they voted in Slughorn.. then you'd just have to find a Slytherin head, and a DADA teacher.

And I think you could wrap those roles up with one person, not requiring too many extra stuff.

I'm sure you could find a willing Ministry-approved Slytherin head and auror.

Do we know a good Slytherin to take the role though...?

Whoa! Don't you think there are other boarding schools. The three traditional ones are Hogwarts, Beoxbatons, and Durmstrang, but aren't there like, Magic Public Schools?

Hogwarts doesn't strike me as a private school. They send letters to all young witches and wizards.
They have to. Otherwise how could they say that they were equal.

And don't you think that the Malfoys would not have sent Draco to Hogwarts if that was the case? You heard what Draco said: "Mother didn't like the idea of me being so far from home."

They preferred him going to Durmstrang, but unfortunately it was too far away.

And we didn't hear him even consider any other schools.

I don't think there's such a thing as a full roster at Hogwarts, do you?

Dumbledore tells Tom Riddle that in the orphanage when he says he hasn't got any money.
He says that there's a fund to pay for school books etc. for those that can't afford it.

It's more of a scholarship fund, you know, if they're doing REALLY well. And Tom Riddle was showing exceptional magic. You see, if they just handed out money to those who couldn't afford it, they would go broke.
