Hogsmeade Surprise

It was the last Hogsmeade trip before the exams, and everyone wasn't wasting their last chance for a final time of enjoyment. Just when the students were having fun, a loud explosion occurred followed by terrified screams. What exactly happened...and who will be the ones to save the day?

The explosion rocketed the main street.

Slasher was caught right in the middle it all, and was blown to the side of the street. He went into shock. The was a gaping wound in his chest.

Remmy was drifting along the main road in Hogsmeade when an explosion and one lone cry broke into the noise and sent gasps shouting through the crowd.

There was one person lying on the side of the road, helpless. She rushjed over and quickly began a temporary healing charm. Charms was one of her best subjects, after all.

She quickly called for help, but no one would come; The entire hogwarts crowd was dumbstruck on the other side of the road.

Slasher just lay there, temporary relief running through him.
Hang on, this isn't right, his brain thought.
What on earth is going on?

On the other side of the road, there they were. The victims of the explosion. The targets. The innocents: The shopkeepers of Zonko's Joke Shop, recently bought out by the Weasley twins.
They were in shop aprons, but it did not appear as though they were the twins. Whoever they were, though... they were dead.

Remmy rushed across to the other side of the road.

"HELLO?! Con't you see there's a ma-- Oh my..."

Whay kind of person could've done this?

Remmy looked to the sky, but no dark mark appeared.

These weren't the Weasley twins.
Their bodies were banged up bad, they were covered in ash and blood seeped through their aprons. Even so, it was easy to tell that these two were not twins: One was a large, hefty man. the other was a short thing... Shorter than Remmy, even.

Slasher got up, miraculously healed by what could only have been magic, and walked over to the bodies by the ruined shop. It was as if the majority of the crowd had been frozen. It looked as though they were covered in ice.

Oh no, Slasher thought. One of the victims was an elf... SPEW would be all over this one in a matter of minutes. The organisation knew everything that happened concerning elves these days. Liberation or nothing, they said.

Slasher felt the ice yearning to creep over his body too.
No, he thought. This will not happen.
What's going on?

Keesia, startled and shocked by the explosion had collapsed to the ground in a fight to keep herself from being injured, she looked over to where Slasher was, her best friend, a gaping wound in his chest, as she stared walking hurriedly towards him he got up and went over towards the two bodies...

Staring at these to boddies, one was an Elf, she better tell Hermione quick,
but instead she decided to go over to Slasher, she grabbed him and gave him a hug, "Are you ok???" she asked quietly...

Remmy took a closer look.

Why haven't they moved?

She aproached one of the people in the front of the crowd and softly touched her hair. She ran her hand down her shoulder only to find that it was hard.

Why hasn't this happened to me?

A sudden rush of cold overcame her.
Fighting the layer of immobilization that had begun to engulf her, Remmy pulled out her wand and cast a protecting charm over herself. She also cast one over the boy she'd helped earlier. The healing spell was very basic and would wear off soon. She only hoped that it would last long enough to get help.

In the corner of her eye, Remmy saw a girl standing next to earlier. He shouldnt be up yet, his wound may not be gaping, but that was only the surface. Only a trained healer could heal that type of wound.

She walked over to him and the new character he stood next to.

"Hi... umm, well, i know that the wound looks fine... but that spell only heals the outside... you wont lose blood but it wont last long and under your skin the wound is still untouched. Maybe you should lie down?"
She said calmly to him, then turned to her.

"Are you alright?" she asked "It looks like we're the only ones that arent frozen... but I really dont know what's going on... its starting to freak me out."

She looked worriedly at them both for a few silent moments.

"Fine... better than them, anyway," added Slasher, quietly. "Bloody SPEW'll get here in a second, you can count on it. And then they'll be hell to pay. Ever since that Hermione Granger left school all she's been doing is setting up the Elf Mistreatment Detection Office at the Ministry. She's already got SPEW their own office on one of the floors. Ridiculous. I swear I'll die before she becomes Minister. Hmph... probably only a matter of time. She's got the wizarding world eating of of her hand, mudblood scum..."

"Hey, you!" Slasher turned at the voice. It was Fred Weasley. He was not in a good mood.

Remmy looked up at the mention of Ms. Granger.

"DONT YOU DARE CALL HER A MUDBLOOD! SHES GOT JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO BE MINISTER AS ANY OF THE REST OF THE WIZARDING WORLD! SHES PROBABLY GOT AS MUCH EDGE ON YOU AS A CUBE DOES ON A SPHERE! SHE COULD WHIP YOU IN AN INSTANT!"

By this time, Remmy was on her feet with her wand at the ready. She looked deep into his eyes and saw something.... something that stopped her from causing more harm to the boy...
It could've been that even though he was taller than she, he looked younger... it wasnt a fair battle... but she knew that she just couldnt hurt him.

Still, the rage that had built in such a short time had to come out somehow. She turned to a barrel and flicked her wand violently at it. It burst into flames, and its pieces, along with flames, shot into the air and landed in various places around the area.
Satisfied, she reclaimed her seat and looked to her arm. She began to sob. She quickly pulled herself together, though. No one could see that she was weak. No one. That was her downfall last time.

"I... what are you doi-?"
"Nevermind," Slasher said hurriedly. His wand was on the ground, from where he'd dropped it quietly after half-casting a spell at the older girl.
But he'd keep quiet, oh yes he'd keep nice and quiet, he thought silently. Always the quiet one, weren't you Slasher. Always in the background like a weasel. Not now. "Look, can't you help us... look at everyone, they're all stunned! And that shop-"
"Oh yes, we know about the shop," interrupted Fred. George Weasley apparated to his right.
"Yes, it's ours see-"
"And you know what's not funny-"
"It's burnt to the ground. And we're not happy about it."

"Aguamenti," they cast together and put out the flames.

Stan Niggelus bustled through the street, whipped out his camera and took a clear picture of the dead elf. He then walked toward Slasher and the rest of them, "Do you know the elf's cause of death," after an angried response of "NO!" Stan took out a mirror and said in a loud crisp voice, "Hermione Jane Granger," a sharp voice came from the mirror, "This better be good Stan I'm busy,"
"Oh yes it is," Stan responded, showing the mirror the picture.
A gasp came from the mirror.

Remmy watched this new character from a distance. She saw him take out a mirror and she could make out the faint outline of a face in it. She made a move to get closer but was restrained by a George Weasley who was still furious about the shop. She tried to shake herself loose, but within a few seconds his grip tightened and another hand grabbed her other arm. Fred.

With her wand still in her hand she jabbed it into Fred's thigh and he released with a start. She shook George free and moved slowly closer to the new figure, her eyes fixed on the mirror.

She was now hovering over his shoulder, unnoticed until a now recognizeable Hermione Granger spoke to her.

"Excuse me, can I help you?"
"I-uh... well I-" Remmy studdered. "I was just. Um... well.. everyone here... they're frozen somehow... I don't understand..."
"Well, I can see that, young lady. Were you here when the elf was killed?"
Remmy slowly nodded her head.
"Well then, could you tell me what happened?"
Remmy nodded again
"Well, Stan, don't be dumb, give her the mirror." She said, her head turning to Stan

Remmy then continued on to tell the story of what had happened and how she'd healed the younger boy and how one of his friends was alright, too. Hermione listened intently until the story was done.
"He still needs help though... the spell I did, it was only temporary. I can renew it only for so long."
"Well, thank you, umm, I'm sorry, I didn;t catch your name?"
"Remmy... Remmy Jenkins"
"Well thank you, Remmy, someone's on their way from St. Mungo's. STAN! continue your analysis of the scene. I must go"

And with that, Hermione vanished from the mirror.

Slasher was furious. He'd known this would happen.

It's always the elfs being looked after. Nobody gives a darn about Slasher Broonhoggle. And now that mudblood Granger was on the beat... no stopping her.

Can't wait 'till I'm older, Slasher resolved. I'll teach them a lesson.

Stan continued analyzing the scen of the crime. He noticed the Weasley twins in the distance, "Oy! You there! Any more elves killed?"
"No," the Weasley boys responded, "But Slasher's hurt,"
"My job isn't to look after this boy..... Slasher you say he is? Humans have enough care... I look after elves,"
