Dumbledore gone bad?

Postby Krum » Friday 7 March 2003 6:46:22pm

Or at least in book 6, I've heard, that he is Voldemor's master and only wants more power.

but the flaw in that argument is that if dumbledore was merely seeking power....why didn't he take the job as ministor for magic along with the job as headmaster of hogwarts

its stated in one of the books that Dumbledore was top of list for ministor of magic and fudge only got the job because dumbledore turned it down but if dumbledore wants power then wouldnt he have taken that job too

Are you kidding? Dumbledore be evil? That would just be like God being Satan. Dumbledore will never be evil!
JK Rowling has even said on several occasions that Dumbledore "is the opitimy of all things good"

i'll make some stupid points for the sake of it

Look at his rankings:

Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorcerer (In some cases, Sorcerer's are EVIL), Chief Warlock (Warlocks are by most definitions EVIL), Supreme Mugwump (What's that?), International Confederation of Wizards.

I don't think he'd want Fudge's job tho, its not that high or grand. Crouch and Voldemort may convet it, Dumbledore aren't as narrrowminded as they are... the minister for magic onli looks after England, Dumbledore wants the world~ lol

But seriously now, wot's a mugwump?

The major reason why I think Dumbledore is quite unlikely to be evil is his given name. The Latin meaning of 'Albus' is white, bright or propitious, and JKR's choice of names usually gives hints of character traits. And btw, I think that most of the HP fans would feel cheated if AD suddenly turned out to be the personification of evil...or wouldn't you?
That would be nearly as bad as Hermione being Satan's youngest daughter Image

I agree with Mistress Siana. I will feel betrayed if dumbledore turned out to be anything different than he is now.

What about Sirius Black? ;)

But I agree that it is hardly possible.

well, Sirius was (initially) supposed to be a bad guy and he is kinda the "worst" good guy (he got the most sinister background of the order, expet maybe Snape)

Yes, i don't know if Dumbledore will not turn evil or not, but I do believe that we have only scratched the survice of the character of Albus Dumbledore

Dumbledore's great bloke, good, fair, fine, almost ideal... I love the way he is. He can't be bad! He's like a grandpa to me :)

I cannot even begin to fathom a world where Albus Dumbledore is bad!

Can you imagine how the balance would tip with Dumbledore AND Voldemort on the same side? The good side wouldn't have a hope in hell! It has been said that Dumbledore is the only wizard that Voldemort is afraid of. Without him in the running, there's nothing that could stop Voldemort at all.

Dumbledore being bad is almost laughable

Dumbledore's caring and attitude towards harry is too strong! even Jk would have a job turning dumbledore to the 'dark side' and make it sound believable
