It must be allowed to some extent, I have a hard time imagining that all witches/wizards hide there magical powers until after they have married a muggle...as they clearly marry muggles all of the time.

Seriously though, my guess is that the rules likely go something like this: When a Witch or Wizard intends to propose to a Muggle (not counting Squibs) or are proposed to by a Muggle, before they do so or accept they must report their intentions to the Ministry. They then reveal the truth before proposing or accepting. If the Muggle is still all go for marriage, they are welcomed into the Wizarding world. If the Muggle freaks out (as I'm sure is far from uncommon) and wants to end it, the Ministry has the Muggle's memory erased of the revelation and implants some other reason for the break-up.

However Chapter 1 makes me think the muggle world must have a role to play somewhere in the last book (as JK would ignore it otherwise)

I also hope we get to hear about Harry's muggle grandparents as I just feel this is any area which just hasn't really been touched on.

i believe the muggles and the wizards actually live in a symbiotic relationship...if one thing happens to one of them it will affect the other. (i'm kinda quoting star wars here ) so there must be at least a small connection between the leaders of the two worlds. and probably muggles might have a bigger unsuspected role in the future book. and plus i liked the chapter. it was ... how do i say it...new?

as far as for harry's grand parents. i remember jkr saying in an interview they don't actually exist as characters. she said petunia and lily's parents were just muggles. and their death had nothing magical. as for james' parents. they were already old when they gave birth to james (and that's why he turned out to be kinda spoiled). and they died quick (some magical diseases as far as i can remember...but u can read the exact thing jkr said in her interview on mugglenet)

Yeah wrote that bit about the grandparents before JKR's interview. Sounds like they really haven't got much to add to the plot. Sounds like Lily and James could be at the core of it I think...
