dumbledore and harry

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Do you think Harry could have taken on the Death Eaters by himself?

Most likely, neither did Dumbledore. Better one of them end up dead than both.

Because he would have rather died than have had Harry die, in the cave thing, he said Harry's blood was more valuable, and I dont know how he'd take it if harry died and he lived, seeing as their relationship had gotten stronger and closer before he died

I assume he had prorities, he only had time for one spell, he didn't know how many would come and harry was his highest priority. He said it himself, his reflexes arn't what they used to be. I hate the way it seems so easy though, that DD could not or did nothing to save himself

well i think that if harry had not gotten paralyzed he would have attacked malfoy and would eventually be killed be either snape or some other death eater

but they weren't allowed to kill harry, remember snape said to leave him for the dark lord. but why leave him for voldemort, surely he just wants him dead by now. he doesn't need his blood or anything, he would just want him dead.

but why did DD freeze him, together they could've fought their way out of it. they had broomsticks, harry was invisibible, one stupefy from behind malfoy and they would've got away on the broomsticks in two seconds.

i can't believe JK just gave us another pointless major character death, cruel lady :-(

At the time when he did it, it was only Malfoy! then it was only another 4 DE which you presume dumbledore would be able to take even in a weakened state with Harry by his side. Its not as if Harry hasnt been comfronted by them before! this makes me think DD was trying to convince Malfoy not to do it to bring him back over to the good side, and he new harry would emediately attack malfoy due to his distrust of him. So he froze Harry so he could negotiate without having to deal with Harry's interference!

the only explanation that i could think of is that this is what DD wanted to happen. He knew that this would be the outcome so he didnt hide from it.

The only thing DD cared about was defeating LV was for him to die. That was nessecery for harry to come to the little re-awakening and deciding that he alone needed to battle LV

I think if Harry was captured at this point, he would not have been fully equipped to face Voldemort and therefore freezing Harry would mean that he would face another day and that Harry could see through his vision of destroying the Horcruxes.

Dumbledore knew his time was coming and didn't want Harry to interfere. He delayed Malfoy on a fruitless mission to bring him over to the good side when he knew he would not be able to - all to ensure that Snape could catch up and carry out Dumbledore's personal order to him to kill him.

He didn't want Snape's cover blown because Snape will play an important role in Harry's destiny in the last book.

Here's my theory I def. think DD froze him to save his life, but I don't agree that he could've fought them all off in his weakened state even with Harry. I mean Dumbledore was even having a hard time talking and standing let alone fight. I think he knew that should they fight Harry would be dong most of the fighting or at least trying to to save DD from hurting himself. DD didn't want Harry to risk it. And as for getting on their brooms and flying away, DD was REALLY weak and it would've seemed like he was running away. DD isn't the running kind. I don't think he could've lived with himself if he flew off and saved himself and Harry leaving the rest of the Order to fight and risk being killed. We really can't expect much from DD after he drank that potion, he was very near death already (Harry practically had to carry him the whole way back from the cave to Hogsmeade) without carrying on a battle. He wasn't his normal strong self.

i think he might have frozen him to save his life, but he probably also did it because he didn't want harry to become a killer (yet, anyway - i'm sure he'll have to be at some point). dd knew that if malfoy pointed his wand at him, harry would freak, and probably try to kill him, or eventually snape. by freezing him, dd gave malfoy and snape a sort of head start. dd knew he was going to die that night, i'm sure of it. he didn't want harry having to deal with his own conscious (sp?) on top of that.

I'm interested to see what DD portrait has to say in the new book and to the extent that they can communicate on an AI level as the picture could be of great help to Harry, even if it is only an echo of DD

the_truth_hurts i totally agree with u wen u say that dd knew he was going to die that night and the fact that he froze harry to save him coz he knew if harry saw snape and malfoy getting ready to kill him then harry would've acted and he would've been messed up

I still think he wanted to try and save Draco and his Mum. he knew Draco was scared now rather than excited as JKR makes us believe at the start!
