What will you be doing the weekend of the HP #6 release?

Postby Ginny Potter » Saturday 25 June 2005 9:44:20pm

I'm curious...seeing as July 16 is just around the corner, what are your plans for that magical weekend? I was just wondering what everyone's approach was going to be for the release of the new book. Thus far, I'm thinking this is what I'll do...

Before that weekend, I'll refresh myself on the five books. :-)

Only July 15, since I have the day off from work (I didn't take the day off, I had it off  ), I'll likely sleep in and get as much rest that day as possible so that...

I can attend the midnight party at Barnes and Noble in my Harry Potter t-shirts with my fellow 20 somethings who like to read the books...if I decide to buy the book at midnight, I may stay up that night start reading it. Or, I may just wait for the copy that's going to be delivered the next day to show up at my door in which case, I'll go home and try to get to sleep as fast as I can like a kid on Christmas Eve. :P If I do both, I'll give one copy to my Mom.

Since I have July 15-17 off from work, it'll be read, read, READ. I'll stay away from this place (and spoilers!) until I finish. I'd also like to set up my home to be super-conducive to reading with fun snacks and what not. :D

Likely, I'll do some reading at Starbucks...if it gets too noisy or distracting, I can always just get some caffeine, grab a sub sandwich at Subway, and mosey on back home to do--what else--READ!

My goal is to have that book read before I go in to work on July 18...I would love to be one of those people who reads a chapter a day and stretches it out and/or just takes their time and enjoy it, but I'll go mad at work and not be able to focus. :o

What is your plan for that weekend? :???:

Normally, like you, I refresh by rereading all the books, then read the newest book like a madwoman -- then I sit it out a few days and then reread the newest book more slowly to be sure I caught it all.

This time around, I am only rereading book 5 and will move right into book 6 the day it comes out. I'm so eager, so I assume I will read through very quickly like I usually do, then go back and reread it more slowly a few days later.

There's be plenty of time afterwards though.

I'll start reading it only after the weekend, I think. I've got the book pre-ordered, but they're posting them the day of the release, so I doubt that I'll get it on the same day. And as the postman doesn't come on Sundays... I'll wait a bit. It isn't a big problem, as barely anyone is going to read the English original, so I'll still be among the first ones to read it (and then tease the others...).
