Titles for books 6 & 7

Postby Violet » Friday 5 September 2003 12:10:02am

Today i read in the paper that there are two titles thought to be for the book 6 & 7:
Harry potter and the mudblood revolt for the next book, and
Harry potter and the quest of the cantaur for the final book.
These titles were secretly registered as trade marks by a company called Seabottom productions. JK's literary agent refused to comment on the titles.

Personally i cant see that these titles are very likely. especially not the one for book 7. While we are still completely unaware of the content of the book, it does not seem to bare much reflection on the conclusion of the harry potter series.

For book 6 it bares no similarites to the existing rumours of the book being called, Harry Potter and the green flame torch
Combined with this i cant see that JK is completely certain of the title of the 7th book when she hasn't even written the 6th book yet! It also seems to give away too much about the books, which JK hasn't done in the rest of her book titles

What does everyone else think?

I agree with you, Violet. I don't think we'll find out what the titles for the next books until pretty soon before they come out, like we did with book 5. none of those titles really sound like something JK would write, especially the "mudblood revolt." For some reason I cannot explain it reminds me of the title for Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of Clones. Maybe its because they both seem really cheesy to me  Its probably just me.

Yeah, I'm thinking no on the mudblood revolt one. This doesnt sound very JKRish at all. And isn't mudblood like a super-inappropiate word in the wizarding world? So why would JK put a curse word pretty much into the title?

I agree with this. I do quite like the Green Flame title though.

JKR's titles are generally very lyrical, and ..."Mudblood Revolt" just doesn't seem lyrical enough to come from her pen..."Green Flame Torch" has some lyricalness to it, so it is a possibilitiy, although I believe they are all just rumors and red herrings

Even if "Harry Potter and the Green Flame Torch" is a wonderful title in my opinion, I think JK will surprise us again and will pick up a title we haven't yet heard...
As for "Harry Potter and the Mudblood Revolt", and "Harry Potter and the quest of the Centaur" I had heard about them too, but I really hope it was only a theory. I don't like them, expecially the Mudblood Revolt...
I agree with Meg, JK's titles are always lyrical, and these ones are not !
