Who is your favourite charactor in Lord of the Rings 3

Who is your favourite charactor in LotR and why are they your favourite charactor. The charactor can be from the third film only.

I didn't vote because my favourite character wasn't on there.



...I could be a jerk and say that it was Tom Bombadill, and then giggle at the confusion on the youngster's faces; but instead I'll be more truthful and say that my favourite character was Gollum. I just love characters that are flawed and a little damaged/unstable. It just goes to show that the line between good and evil is not as clear as some would like to believe.

My favourite out of these is Gandalf. Unlike many other LOTR characters, he isn't all perfect - he's even vulnerable to Saruman at the beginning.

However, you haven't put Saruman there (okay, he was left out of the third movie, evil, evil director!!!), I like him very, very much. It's because he was such a wise person and yet he yielded to the temptation of dark. And I usually like darker and more complicated characters. By the way, in the movies I liked Wormtail too (and it's a pity that his last scene wasn't in the movie).

I voted Eowyn. I liked her from the book, not so sure about the movie though...

But he left Saruman out completely in the third movie! Although I think that he is in the extended version, I haven't seen that one yet.

There was so much cut out of the third movie that I was kinda disappointed by it, Saruman was one of the things. I found wormtongue great, but that was possibly because I'm a fan of the actor.

Yes, Saruman is in the extended edition although I havn't seen it.

The books are so huge that it would be impossible for Peter Jackson to include every detail. With all the stuff that was cut out of the movie, the theatrical release still ran for over three hours, so imagine what it would have been like had all the details still been included.

Sacrifices had to be made.

if some part of the novel didn't contribute to the main storyline, chances are it would have been cut. In the end I think that PJ did quite a good job.

If this makes sense, which I'm sure it doesn't lol, I saw the movies and loved them, and about a month afterwards I read the book. Even though I read the books afterwards I'm disappointed that they left a few things out. Crazy...............

Sam because he was my fave character from the books other than Glorfindel. Like Bilbo too but more from The Hobbit than his appearances in LotR.

Hated the movies for a very long time, it took a long time to come to terms with the stuff that was removed and what it was replaced by and I shall never ever ever like the character Arwen ever again not that I liked her in the books but I didn't really notice her at all but now I hate her with a pashion.

i've only seen one of the movies , the first one, and i barely remember any of it, but i remember that my favorite character was legolas (although i might not have made the best choice, i was only 9 when i saw it

Well the first film didn't really bring out any particular flair in the characters. There was some good acting, as good as in either of the other movies (because they were all filmed at the same time) but you didn't really get to see as much of the personal side as you do later on.
I'm still a little annoyed that they didn't include the Eowyn-Faramir love storyline. I suppose they thought Aragorn-Arwen was more important. Apart from one loving look at each other during the coronation of Elessar, they didn't show you anything.

You don't get to see any of the personal side of the characters in any of the movies because Peter screwed them up...

for example, Pippin is not a fool of a took...tis Aragorn who lets the nazgul see them on Weathertop not the hobbits, tis Borromir who throws the stone in the pool and wakes up the watcher in the lake....the palantir thing is beyond his control and its Gandalf's fault for ever letting him touch it in the first place and not guarding it properly....also they plotted and planned for ages and knew Frodo was planning to leave, they didn't fall into the quest, they knew all about it and still chose to help him even though they knew what he was planning to do. Pippin and Merry didn't theive from Farmer maggot, that was Frodo stealing mushrooms when he was a kid, also they didn't steal the dragon rocket cos the fireworks went without a hitch in the book.

oh yes, and Gimli is not the light releif, he knew his relatives were mostly likely dead, he never expected them to be alive roasting meat on the bone etc....

Gandalf got most of Legolas's most intelligent lines, Aragorn got most of Gandalf's best lines....Arwen is screwed up because she is just a girl in an elf city, Glorfindel rescues Frodo from the nazgul and Arwen shouldn't aappear in the 2nd movie at all.

So all in all, the characters in the movie bear no resemblence to the characters in the book and the book came first so I know which ones I'll be taking notice of.
