thats true. 9 times out of ten you become like the people you're surrounded by, and Malfoy (before he came to Hogwarts) was surrounded by his horrible parents. that philosophy could also explain why most slytherins seem to be bad. you hang out with people from your house, and if alot of the popular people in your house are mean and nasty, there's a good chance it'll rub off on you. like Hermy said, it might be peer pressure. But, then again, the trio in gryffindor tend to spend more time with just eachother than they do with other people from their house, so there could be a small band of nice slytherins? I'm just writing every thing that comes into my head right now, though, haven't really given these theories a whole lot of thought.
