Sounds like you two took the exact same test!
I went through years of state testing. NY is famous for the amount of testing they put the students through. I got lucky, though. I went through much less than you guys are going through now. I only had state tests in 4th and 8th grade. Then the Regents exams in 9th through 12th grade, of course. Most of them aren't bad though. The 11th grade English one is grueling. It's 2 days.
The sad part is that the teachers are being forced to teach to the test now.
So much good material is being cut in order to make sure everyone can pass the tests. When I was in 4th grade, we had a brilliant unit on the Erie Canal. We incorporated it into every subject and it was so much fun. It's what I remember most about 4th grade. We even made our own little boats and then visited the Erie Canal museum. But Fawkes (who was in 4th grade eight years after me) didn't do any of that because they had to focus so much on the tests. I really don't think increased testing benefits a person's education very much.
