Following Dobby the house-elf's grave warning that "if Harry Potter goes back to Hogwarts he will be in mortal danger", Harry embarks on his second year to find Dobby's predictions coming true.  Harry soon finds himself entangled in a dark plot as students at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry keep turning up petrified.  Could Draco Malfoy be to blame, with his dislike of "Mudbloods", or is something even more malevolent at work?  With the help of returning friends Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, and Hedwig, Harry will attend new classes to learn second-year spells which will help him in his quest to discover the true identity of the "Heir of Slytherin".

Enter marvellous free-roaming 3D environments from the Harry Potter universe, becoming Harry and delving not only into his world but also into his personality, via an internal "voice".  Exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwarts, conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, and shopping in Diagon Alley, you'll make crucial and independent decisions within Harry's world.  In addition, Harry can, of course, cast spells against foes - but these spells need to be executed perfectly, otherwise they may be miscast with humorous or critical consequences!  Mini-games within levels can be revisited, so you can help Mrs. Weasley with "de-gnoming" her garden, challenge other students in Professor Lockhart's Duelling Club, or complete other mini-games as many times as you like.

The game opens with Harry meeting Ginny and Mr. Malfoy at Flouish and Blotts.  Ron and Harry fly their car to school and land in the Whomping Willow where you have to dodge tree roots to free Ron form the Willow's clutches .  Then, it's off to classes, and we get to meet Gilderoy Lockhart.

There are many new things for those who've played the first game.  Weekly house point ceremonies enable the leader in points gets to go to the hallowed bonus bean room, which is filled with beans.  The bean trading system allows you to go to anyone tossing a bean and trade beans for various things, such as a wizard card (guaranteed not to tarnish!)  Wiggenweld Potions have a certain ability too, but you'll have to play the game to find out what that is!  Other nice improvements over Game 1 are that the character's mouths move when they talk, Harry turns around when you back him up, and you're told if doors aren't going to open so that saves repeatedly trying.

The graphics and sound in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets video game are very good and the voice acting sounds like the characters from the film.
