harry potter and the philosophers stone psone help!

i am very stuck on the part where you are in the forest looking for the unicorn, you reach a clearing with a big tree and there is like a thing that looks like a river (but its actually not, its got spikes and things in it) and you can't climb up the otherside. i just keep dying and i can't find a way to get to the other side please help.

which game is it...as in pc, playstation 1/2 etc because they vary slightly. I don't remember that part of the game though but I haven't tried to play it in ages.

playstation 1, its very strange, it could be a glitch i guess. when you look at the tree from certain angles you can see a sparkley thing on it like you should be able to cast a flipendo jynx but you can't

hmm...thats the game my sister had and we got right to the last room but that was many many years ago when it was first released and I was probably at uni when she did that bit...but there is hope for if she managed it it must be easy, we are notoriously bad at playstation games.
