who will replace dumbledore?

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

McGonagall. She was deputy head, who else would be better able?

How is a new headmaster elected? Is there any election among the teachers or governors? Or it's simplier and McGonagall will follow because she's the deputy headmaster?

I can see it as a place of election - the headmaster is chosen and then he choses himself a deputy headmaster, so it can still be a surprise who the new one will be.

But an appointment by the board of governers would still be the most able person, and to my reckoning that'd be McGonagall.

But the point is that the Board of Governors often don't just have the school's priorities in the forefront of their minds.

Or perhaps they do have the school's, but not the student's. :-?

The board's main fault was in removing Dumbledore in CoS. They did that because Lucius Malfoy threatened to put horrible curses on their families, but I think LM is currently in no position to curse anybody where he is. Even if he got out of Azkaban any time soon, there's no way he'd be put back on the school board.

I just got the impression she might feel uncomfortable taking over form someone like Dumbledore.

I thikn she'd be perfectly capable of the job - those shoes are just big to fill, that's all.

Just a thought - Slughorn? I know he is not so long at Hogward's but he is a good Auror and if he wants to get the position he will find a way, being a Slytherin (if you know what I mean ;-)).

That's a very real option - and we can't forget that he isn't new to Hogwarts - he was a teacher prior the the series. :-)

Sooo... I'm still thinking, probably not.....

Mainly because it seems to me that he doesn't ever want to be in the spotlight - he just wants to know the people that are.
