What parts of book 3 MUST be in movie 3...

...for you to feel it was a good movie?

I think Cuaron's probably felt the pressure of this movie...a lot of people name book #3 (even after book 5 came out) as their favorite book, and they'll want it done right. There are so many good parts to book 3 that it's hard to know what to leave out! I know, for me, I would like to see the following things in movie #3 and done well (from book 3):

(1) the confrontation in the Shrieking Shack
(2) the dementors
(3) Harry's flashbacks and patronus
(4) lots of Lupin/Harry interaction
(5) flashbacks of the Marauders as well as seeing the Marauders' Map
(6) Hermione slapping Draco
(7) Hermione being snarky in Diviniation (I read somewhere that Emma Thompson is playing Trelawney...THAT should be interesting...she (Emma) seems too likable!)
[8] The time-travel at the end and Hermione trying to get to all those different classes

There are probably other things, but those are the first that came to mind. There is so much good stuff in book 3! What are you looking forward to seeing in the movie?

Well, my biggest wish is to see the whole book made into a film, but, as I know that's impossible, I'll agree with all things you said - specialy 2,4,5,6 and I'm pretty interested how Telawney will look too.

All things there that I want to see, Ginny, and Female Alien, I think you mean Buckbeak, not Norbert. And I don't think the phone call will make it into the film. I am upset, anxious acually, that much of the stuff that we love will be lost as Cuaron tears JKR's masterpiece to shreds in order to create his own twist on the series(no i am not a cuaron fan). I've said this elsewhere: WHY ARE THERE KIDS SINGING IN THE MOVIE?!! If you've seen the trailer, you saw the singing, if your saw the singing you no doubt said "WHAT?!"
Don't forget:
12) good buckbeak
13) Lupin as a werewolf
14) Good DADA creatures(including bogart)

Yes, I meant Buckbeak - stupid me!!!! And I have to say I've felt that fear menotyoo, I'm just so nervous how it will all be becuase 3rd book is just so great (not my favourite book but includes Lupin - one of my favourites) and the book is so complicated actualy and what uf they miss some great part....
And I've seen those kids singing but I wasn't that schocked-I was just anxious too see what's that supose to be

yeah Marcus! And while he's in the 3 Broomsticks--- maybe a flashback while Fudge retells the story of Sirus vs Pettigrew, and the whole fedalius charm thing

I want all those things too!!I think there will be very little that wont make it into the film mainly because you need almost all of it for the story to make sense for people who don't read the harry potter seris.I think I am really scared and anxious too because on the harry potter website(wb) it said that cuaron was using cgi for most of the castle because they weren't filming in the catholic church for this film at least.I dunno i am a little apprehensive about this film because it is my favorite book by far with the fourth coming close to it.so i hope its good!

According to something I read on Mugglenet, movie #3 will be the shortest movie yet being under 2 and a half hours. It makes me wonder how much will be cut out if book 3 is the longest of the three books made into movies thus far, yet is the shortest movie! I can't really think of much from book 3 that could afford to be cut...was the rumor true that Quidditch is cut from book 3?

I don't know. I haven't heard of it, but it could be possible. Personaly, I'm not a quidditch fan and I won't be so sad if they cut it out-only if the other great things are in.

And I too don't undrstand how could this be the shortest movie! That is totaly stupid!

This is just a guess, but there is the possibility that a lot of the 3rd book is description, which can be transfered to the screen very easily. What took 10 pages to describe is displayed in the movie for a total of 5 seconds. Then I doubt that any history of magic classes, transfiguaration classes, or astronomy will make it into the movie, and if they do, it will be brief and only happen once.

They can't really cut qudditch because alot happens in the games that affects the plot of the story.I think most of the book is description of people like sirus,lupin,trelawney(s/p),and others.Thats nuts that is the shortest but who knows.I have told my mom that if its not as good as the book then i will be soooo mad.

One of the more interesting scenes in book 3 for me was when Harry was playing Quidditch and fell off of his broom because of the Dementors...that was why he went to Lupin to see out ways to deal with the Dementors...

It's hard to imagine how they'll get Harry to Lupin without that crucial scene, you know?

At any rate, even though it's shorter, if they include the humor, the scenes with Harry and Lupin, the background that is provided about Harry's parents and their friends, particularly with scenes about (or showing flashbacks of!) the Marauders, I think it could be good. Especially if Daniel Radcliffe keeps improving...he was less stiff in CoS, and I'm hoping he just gets better with time. I think Malfoy howling, "I'm dying!" and Hermione slapping Malfoy should be pretty funny.

I'm really looking forward to the third movie ...I wonder when it'll be out on DVD?

I think they should definetly display the Divination test and of the scenes when Harry and Hermione go back in time as well as Harry, Serius and Hermione being swarmed with about 100 dementors.

I'm looking forward to the part where the marauders map starts insulting snape, i thought that was funny in the book so it will be good to see how it comes across on screen, i just love alan rickman as snape, he is fab, and the boggart scene where snape gets a new do!! should be funny!!
