Boggarts

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Boggarts

Postby Mistress Siana » Monday 12 January 2004 11:54:04pm

I wonder what the boggarts of the following characters look like:

Hermione
Dumbledore
Snape
Sirius
Draco
and Voldemort

I think
Voldemort's boggart would have something to do with death,
Dumbledore would see Harry dead

I have no ideas for Sirius and Hermione, but I have the feeling that Draco might see his father. :o
And Snape...maybe he sees himself?

Well you learn Hermione's in the 3rd book during the final exams Lupin gives.

Snape's could possibly his worst memory...

Dumbledore's is a tough one. I don't know what to say for that.

Malfoy's might have to do with being a bouncing ferret. LOL! (I loved that scene.)

The others are a little hard to think about.

Sirius - death of his friends esp. James (Sirius is pretty loyal)

Voldemort - Albus Dumbledore ???(Dumbledore was the one wizard Riddle ever feared)

Hermione - failing every single examination (or a paper marked 9/10  )

As for Draco seeing his father, that's a likelihood since the Malfoy household seems to be very demanding. And being the only son, Draco would have loads of pressure.

I wondered abou Hermione...we've never seen her boggart and what she told Ron and Harry was the most obvious thing. As far as I know, she didn't have to defeat one, did she? Maybe she lied and there is something special with her boggart...but I think we've already had that topic somewhere.

I think Snape's a tough one too...I find it somewhat hard to imagine that a man who was a Death Eater and changed sides for some reason has being humiliated by some fellow students at the age of 15 as his greatest fear...

As noted by Lupin regarding Harry's boggart manifestation, Harry fears fear more than anything else - a rather remarkable thing, and a testiment to why he's in Gryffindor.

Hermoine - Failure / incompetance. This would manifest itself right now as not passing her classes.

Dumbledore - The fall of the good side. It might mean a dead Harry, since Dumbledore knows Harry is the only one that can stop Voldemort.

Snape - Exposure. To be caught spying would sign his own death warrant.

Sirius - Dead Harry. Harry was the most important person in the world to him.

Draco - Humiliation.

Voldemort - Death

I'm not so sure about Hermione...at least not anymore. The biggest fear can change, and so can the boggart. I can't believe that, being a mudblood inmidst of a war against Voldemort and one of her best friends being the one to defeat him, failing a test would be her biggest fear. Certainly a big one, but the biggest?

we already got a glimpse of Hermione's Boggart in Book 3, the Obstacle test Lupin gives the class...i think it's very important to Hermione to do well in school, in book 5she mentions her parents want her to do well, maybe she is under some pressure from them too

Those are such good ideas! I buy them.
As for Sirius and Hermione, yeah they're hard. Maybe it's nothing quite so deep and Sirius is scared of something silly, like Ron being scared of spiders  Or maybe something to do with his sentence in Azkaban- maybe dementores like Harry.
I have no idea about Hermione :???: though I like to think she runs deeper than just school work. Maybe it's something really unexpected...

Well, the only sure one is that Voldies one would be Death itself, but it would be pretty probable that DD`s one would be a dead Harry

In that World Book Day interview at Leaky Cauldron JKR said that she can't tell what form Snape's boggart takes, because it would give so much away. I've always thought his boggart is either Voldemort or Voldemort finding out that he's a spy, but after this I think it's going to be something else. Voldemort would be too obvious, wouldn't it? It doesn't give away much, it has to be something else.

As for Voldemort, I'm almost sure it's either his death or his defeat. For Dumbledore, seeing Harry dead.

I don't really think that this would be Draco's worst fear as I don't think that his relationship with his parent's is a very close one.
