To Melt A Heart of Ice
Part 1: Fresh Summer Air
(As told in the point of view of Lindsey)

I smiled to myself and took a deep breath of fresh summer air. I was heading home from the movies and didn't think I had ever been happier in my life. Me and my new boyfriend James had just shared our first kiss and my heart still raced at the memory of his touch. Still grinning and humming happily to myself I burst in through the front door calling, "Mom! Dad! I'm home!"
"In here, honey," I heard my mom's voice coming from the den. I skipped in merrily and then froze in my tracks. *What the hell?" I thought looking around. The room was almost empty except for a few boxes and the loveseat upon which my parents were seated. They looked very serious.
"Ya wanna tell me whats going on here?" I demanded.
"Lindsey," my dad pleaded. "Before you say anything just hear us out.....we're moving."
"WHAT?!?" I screamed.
"To England," my mom finished.
"England?" I said my anger subsiding slightly. "Sweet! But why?"
"Well...I got a job there," my dad replied. "We'll be making a lot more money now."
"Now that's what I'm talking about!" grinning I plopped down next to Dad and put an arm around him.. "So...what is it you'll be doing?"
My parents exchanged worried glances. "I...er..." my dad stammered. "Well...I'll be working for the Ministry of Magic."
I blinked. "The whattie of what?"
Mom reached into her pocket and pulled out a white envelope. "You see Lindsey. It is not a boarding school that your brother Daniel goes to." She handed me the envelope. It was addressed to me in curly emerald writing. Shakily I opened the letter.
'Dear Lindsey,' it read. 'I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.' I looked up and gasped. Mom motioned for me to keep reading. 'Until recently,' it went on, 'your powers have been dormant. In other words you didn't seem to posses any magical qualities like you brother and father.' I gasped in shock. "I'm a witch?"
"Yes," Dad replied. "And you will attend Hogwarts."
"Ok," I replied hestitantly. Then i saddened. "But first there's someone I gotta talk to."

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 2: A Rude Awakening
(As told from the point of view of James)

RING! RING! RING!
"Aaaargh!" I mumbled trying desperately to open my eyes to get out of bed to retrieve the phone but only succeeding in tangling myself further into the covers. Finally, I dragged myself, covers and all, out of my room to pick up the phone. "Hello?" I answered groggily, rubbing sleep from my eyes.
"James?" the other voice asked.
I became fully awake suddenly as if ice water had just been dumped on my head. "Lindsey!" I exclaimed remembering the kiss from the day before.
"Listen James," her voice was shaking as if she were trying desperately not to cry. "I need to talk to you."
I sat down on the edge of the couch. Clearly something was wrong. "Yeah," I said frowning. "Yeah sure. What's up?"
"No," she stated. "Not on the phone. In person."
"Of course," I agreed. I was pretty darn freaked out by then. "Just name a time and place and tomorrow I'll..."
"Now," she interrupted. "I have to talk to you now."
"Lindsey!" I exclaimed, astonished. "It's not even light outside yet! And I need my beauty sleep!"
"James," she sighed, obviously annoyed. "I'm serious. This is important."
"OK, OK," I said exasperated. "Just lemme change and I'll be over there in a few minutes."
"Thanks," she said. "And don't let my parents see you. I love you." Then I hear the click and the line went dead. I sighed and hung up.
I trudged back to my room and hastily threw on jeans and a t-shirt and slipped on my Vans skateboarding shoes.
I raced out the door and into the black night. It was warm and a soft breeze blew my brown hair into my eyes. I hastily flicked my hair back and smoothed it out then set down my skateboard and skated the few blocks to Lindsey's house.
I stopped right underneath what I knew was her window. I picked up a rock and chunked it as hard as I could at the window. Immediately, the curtains drew back and there was Lindsey looking radiant with the moonlight shining on her like a spotlight giving her an unearthly glow, like an angel. She held up and finger then disappeared into the depths of her house. I blinked and there she was at the door. "Hey," I said softly. Without warning she burst into tears and wrapped her arms around my neck. "What is it?" I asked hugging her tightly to my chest. "What's wrong?"
"Oh James!" she murmured her voice muffled from burying her face in my neck. "I'm moving to England in the morning."
I blinked. "England?" I answered blankly. "As in the country across the ocean?"
"Yes!" she moaned grasping me tighter.
I was momentarily stunned. "No," I whispered running my fingers through her long blonde hair. "You can't leave me here alone."
"I'm sorry," she whispered back. Then reached up and pulled me toward her and kissed me gently. "I have to go," she said looking into my eyes with that piercing blue gaze. "Goodbye." She gave me one last squeeze and went back inside shutting the door tightly. I sighed and made my way home wiping a tear from my eye.

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 3: London
(As told from the point of view of Lindsey)

When we arrived at our new house in London after a long flight, I gasped. It was much larger then our house in the states and much more beautiful. It was 3 stories high and white with a porch, balcony and best of all a turret. I grinned and yelled, "I call the room with the turret!" and raced inside. I ran to the turret room. It was a circular room with blue walls and blue plush carpeting. 3 huge windows went around the room with white curtains and window seats. I loved it!
After I unpacked, Mom came in. "Come on," she beckoned. "We have to go to Diagon Alley to get your stuff for school."
"OK," I said and followed her.
We arrived in a dusty pub where many strange looking people sat sipping steaming drinks. We passed through it and came to a brick wall. Then my mom pulled out a stick. "Dude, Mom," I said. "Why do you have a freaking stick in your pocket?"
Mom rolled her eyes and tapped the bricks a few times. Suddenly, all the bricks flew to one side and I found myself looking down a crowded alleyway with many shops. "Sweet!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah," Mom said as we started to walk. "And it's called a wand Lindsey."
"Oh," I said, then smiled sweetly. "Of course."
"Here," Mom handed me the list of school supplies. "Meet me at the Leaky Cauldron at 8."
"OK," I replied. "But..." I looked up but she was already gone. *OK then* I thought. *On our own again now aren't we Lindsey?* I wandered the street for a while looking for any familiar stores. I didn't see any until..."Ice cream!" I exclaimed. "Familiar enought." So I bought some ice cream and continued down the street. Licking it happily, I wasn't watching where I was going and tripped over something. "Aaaargh!" I yelled. My ice cream flipped off the cone as I fell.
"Eeeek!" I heard a girl scream. "Where the hell did this come from?"
I looked up to see a girl about my age, her face and hair splattered with ice cream. She was half smiling. "Oh my God!" I gasped, quickly getting to my feet. *Great* I thought. *I just moved here and I'm already ****ing things up.* "I am so ****ing sorry!' I grabbed napkins from the nearest table and began to dab at her face.
"It's cool," she laughed. "Maybe I should just walk around like this all day and see what people think." I didn't know if I should laugh at this or not but then I saw her grinning and figured it was cool. So we both started cracking up. Finally we stopped and she wiped ice cream off her face and out of her long red hair. "My names Shaundra," she said. "What's yours?"
"Lindsey," I replied. "Do you go to Hogwarts?"
"Yeah," she answered. "I'll be starting my fifth year."
"Me too!" I exclaimed. "I just moved here from the states."
"Cool!" she said. "I'm in Hufflepuff." Then seeing the confused expression on my face she explained about the 4 houses at Hogwarts: Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin and Ravenclaw. "So," she asked. "Do you wanna get your stuff with me?"
"Yeah sure!" I agreed, relieved to be with someone who knew their way around.
First we went to get our Hogwarts school robes at Madam Maulkins. Then we bought our fifth year school books at Flourish and Blotts. After that we went to the apothecary to get our ingrediants for potions. We then continued to Ollivanders for my wand. It ended up being rosewood with a phoenis tailfeather and 12 inches. "Yay!" I exclaimed. "My very own stick!"
Shaundra looked at my funny for a minute and then burst out laughing. We finished our shopping by going to the Magical Menagarie and me buying a snowy white owl I named Angel. Then me and Shaundra said our goodbyes and I went to meet my mom.

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 4: Platform 9 3/4
(As told from the point of view of Lindsey)

The next day my parents drove me and Daniel to the train station, said goodbye and left. I glanced down at my ticket. "Platform 9 3/4?" I said aloud. "My parents must be ****ing with my head."
Daniel grinned at me. "Watch the language," he warned. "And no they're not. The platform is right in front of us."
"Uh," I said. "You feeling alright or did they **** with you too? There's 9, there's 10...hmmmm...no 9 3/4!"
"Ugh," Daniel said exasperated. "Come on little one. I'll show you."
Without warning he broke into a run straight towards the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. "Daniel!" I screamed, but he didn't stop and he....ran right through the wall! "Oh my God!" I whispered eyes wide. "Damn! How did he do that?" I shrugged and took off after him, closing my eyes and preparing for a crash. But none came. I opened my eyes and found myself on the other side of the wall and standing next to Daniel. Ahead gleamed a red train upon which were the words The Hogwarts Express in gold. I turned to Daniel and found him conversing with 2 boys. They were obviously twins, tall and red headed. "Oh!" Daniel said turning to me as if just remembering that I existed. "This is my sister Lindsey. Lindsey, this is Fred and George Weasley."
"Hi!" I said, glueing on a nice big smile hoping to score points and make friends. And if all guys in London looked like that, then I was in heaven.
"Well hello there!" grinned George, picking me up and spinning me aound. "How very corking to meet you!"
"Simply spiffing!" Fred said, pushing George aside and grabbing my hand in turn.
I grinned and we made our way onto the triain. Daniel, Fred and George chose a compartment and sat down. Fred patted the empty seat next to him. "Come on Lindsey!" he coaxed. "Pop a squat!"
I laughed. "I'm gonna go find Shaundra but I'll come back for a chat or 2." I walked off down the corridor looking for Shaundra. Soon I had walked the entire length of the train, yet she was nowhere to be found. I sighed. *Oh well.* I thought. * I should be making more friends anyway.* All of the compartments were full except for 1 which seated 3 people: a boy with messy black hair, round glasses and startilingly green eyes. Another tall boy with red hair and freckles and a girl with bushy brown hair. *Whoa!* I thought. *A walking bush!* I slid open the compartment door and asked. "Excuse me. May I sit here?"
The black haired boy looked up. "Yeah sure," he replied motioning to the seat across from him.
I sat down and said, "Hi! I'm Lindsey. I just moved here from the states."
"Cool!" the boy exclaimed. "I'm Harry....Harry Potter. And that's Ron Weasley-" he pointed to the red haired boy, "-and Hermione Granger." He motioned towards the girl who glared at me. *Ouch!* I thought. *b*tch alert!* Ron seemed to be speechless.
"Well," I said sarcastically. "Nice to meet ya'll too."
Harry shook Ron. "Ron!" he demanded. "Snap out of it!"
"Oh!" said Ron, shaking his head. "Nice to meet you too."
Hermione's frown deepened. "You're from America?" I nodded. "Great!" she said sarcastically. "All Americans want is to take over the world. You're all stuck up snobs, you stupid American pig!"
I jumped to my feet wand pulled out. "Hey!" I exclaimed ready to contradict her. "I-" but I was cut off because the compartment door slid open. In walked 3 boys. 2 were gorallaish thugs flanking a tall blonde boy with cold grey eyes that flashed maliciously. *Damn!* I thought. *He is fine!* The blonde boy glanced around the compartment his gray eyes taking it all in: me standing, wand pointed at Hermione who had her fists clenched and eyes narrowed in anger. Ron whose jaw had dropped and Harry who was glaring right back at the blonde boy. "Shove off, Malfoy," he mumbled.
Malfoy sneered. "Well hello to you too Potty. Weasle I'd advise you to close your mouth before you start drooling." Ron's ears turned bright red. Then Malfoy turned to me. The evil grin disappeared and was replaced by a genuine smile. His grey eyes met mine and he said, "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting. The name's Malfoy....Draco Malfoy."
I snickered. It was like the way James Bond said his name. I tried desperately to keep a straight face and said, "I'm Lindsey Driscoll. I just moved here from the states."
Draco grabbed my hand and kissed it. My heart skipped a beat. "You shouldn't be hanging around with riff raff like Potty and Weasle. Or that mudblood," he snarled savagely.
"Hey!" I shoved him. "I can hang with whoever I want!"
He threw me a smirk, his cold eyes flashing, but he left, his body guards following.
"b*****d!" I mumbled savagely. But how come my heart had skipped like that?
"Malfoy," Ron shook his head. "Just ignore him."
I nodded. "Hey!" I exclaimed to Ron. "Your last name's Weasley right?" He nodded. "Are you Fred and George's brother?"
"Yeah," he answered. "Do you know them?"
"Yeah," I replied. "I just met them. They're my brother's best friends."
'Is your brother Daniel?" he questioned.
'Yeah," I said.
"Yeah I met him," Ron said.
"Cool," I said. "Your brothers are awesome!"
"Thanks!" he said grinning.
The compartment door slid open once more. "God!" I said. "Are we popular or something?" Harry and Ron laughed.
In walked a red haired girl and a chubby boy with a slight overbite. "Has anyone seen Trevor?" asked the chubby boy.
"Who?' I asked. The boy gave me a funny look so I added, "Oh sorry. I'm Lindsey. I just moved here from the states.
"Oh," the boy grinned. "I'm Neville Longbottom. Trevor is my toad."
"I'm Ginny Weasley," the red haired girl put in.
"Another one?" I gasped. Ron turned a deep shade of red.
Ginny laughed. "Yeah. There's 7 of us."
"Good God!' I exclaimed. "Where are the other 3?"
"Well," Ginny began. "Charlie is working with dragons in Romania, Bill is working for Gringott's and..." she paused and gulped. 'Well...uh..."she glanced at ron who had turned away. "Percy...he...uh...dropped out of our family so to speak."
"Oh," I said embarrassed that I had brought up a touchy subject. "I'm sorry."
'Oh no," Ginny said, sensing my embarrassment and patting my shoulder. "It's not a big deal. Mum's just a bit upset is all."
"That b*****d!" Ron burst out suddenly. "He's such a traitor! I hate that asswipe!"
"Ron!" Ginny exclaimed, eyes flashing. "Just be quiet abou it OK?"
Ron glared out the windown again, face red and fists clenched.
"Anyway," Ginny continued turning back to me. "I hope you get into Gryffindor. And you mates should be getting changed. We should be there soon. See ya at Hogwarts Lindsey!" Ginny nodded at me and then walked out.
Neville started to follow and then stopped. "Oh," he said turning around. "And if any of you see Trevor, please tell me!" He gave a short wave and then followed Ginny.
We then proceeded to the bathrooms to change into our robes. Before I knew it, we had reached our destination.

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 5: A Starry Night
(As told from the point of view of Ginny)

We all clambored off the train and into the starry night. I caught a glimpse of Lindsey hurrying towards the boats and suddenly became very nervous for her. "Ginny!" Neville was tugging on the sleeve of my robes. "This way." We both hurried towards the horseless carriages and climbed into one of them with Fred, George and Daniel. With a jolt the carriages started up the hill, the invisible hooves clonking loudly on the dirt road. I smiled to myself knowing that Harry was happy right now. *Sigh. Harry.* I smiled thinking about that adorable smile and those brilliantly green eyes.
"Ginny?" I felt someone tap my shoulder and turned to see George. "Come on Lassie. We're home."
I shook my head willing the picture of Harry out of my mind and realized that I was the only one left in the carriage. "Ooops!" I said to George. "My bad." I gladly accepted his outstretched hand and stepped outside.
We all walked up the stone steps and into the brightly lit great hall. Fred, George, Neville, Daniel and I preceeded to take a seat at the Gryffindor table and waited expectantly for the sorting. As the first years entered, I spotted Lindsey towering at least 3 feet above the others looking pale and rather shaky as she made her way to the front of the great hall. "Hello and welcome to another year at Hogwarts," a voice said and Albus Dumbledore stepped out of the shadows. "I am Albus Dumbledore, headmaster here at Hogwarts. Before we begin the sorting ceremony, I have a few start of term notices for you all. As I have said every year, please not that students are forbidden to go into the dark forest. Most of you know that by now, but a select few of you do need reminding from time to time." His blue eyes twinkled in the direction of Harry, Ron and Hermione who grinned at each other. "Also, quidditch tryouts will be held at the end of September. Any who are interested, please report to the captain of your house's team to sign up. Also, Mr. Filch would like to remind you that skieving snackboxes are now on the extensive list of things not allowed in Hogwarts that can be viewed at Mr. Filch's office and on every house's notice board." A murmur of disappointment (especially from Fred and George who happened to be the manufacturers) went around the room. "And now," Dumbledore continued stretching his arms wide. "Let the sorting begin."
Professor McGonagall stepped forward with a long roll of parchment. "Almante, Emily," she pronounced and a tiny girl with curly brown hair stepped forward and the sorting hat was placed on her head. "HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat shouted. The table on the far left cheered and applauded as Emily joined them. The sorting went on for a while and I became very aware of how hungry I was. The McGonagall called out, "Driscool, Lindsey," and Lindsey stepped forward bravely and the sorting hat was placed on her head.

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 6: The Sorting Hat
(As told from the point of view of Lindsey)

When McGonagall placed the sorting hat on my head all I could think was *What the hell? Come on, I gotta look freaking reatrded with this piece of s**t on my head.* To my surprise, the hat said, "Excuse me?" *Oh my god!* I thought. *Did I say that out loud?* "No," the hat replied. "But I can read your mind." *HOLY s**t!* I thought. *READ THAT JACKASS!* I smirked up on that stool in front of the whole school. "Hmmm," the hat grumbled. "We do speak our mind now don't we? Now where to put you?" *I don't care.* I thought. *Just hurry the **** up.* "Hmmm," it mumbled. "You're loyal like a Gryffindor, you speak your mind and are sly and cunning like a Slytherin, you're smart like a Ravenclaw and kind like a Hufflepuff. Well," the hat continued. "Better make it...RAVENCLAW!"
I ripped off the hat and made to sit down at the table on the far right which had just exploded with cheers when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Dumbledore staring down at me, eyes twinkling. "Now," he said facing the sea of students. "Lindsey is new to Hogwarts this year and I expect all of you to treat her with the respect she deserves. Now, who would like to show her around the school after the feast?"
"I will," came a loud drawling voice. I looked around to see that Draco Malfoy had stood up smirking at me.
"Awww s**t," I murmured.
Dumbledore raised one graying eyebrow at him and said, "Very well Mr Malfoy." Draco sat back down still grinning evilly at me. "You may go to your table now Miss Driscool," Dumbledore said patting my back.
I took a seat at the Ravenclaw table and suddenly realized that this was the only house where I didn't know anyone. "Great," I mumbled to myself. So I decided to sit back and enjoy the rest of the sorting. "Millurd, James," announced McGonagall. *What the...?* I thought sitting up straight trying to get a good view of this guy. Sure enough it was James...my James. *Oh my God!* I grinned. *He's a wizard! Yay!* I watched as the sorting hat was placed on his head and he was pronounced a Slytherin. The table on the middle on the left cheered and clapped and he took a seat next to Malfoy. I saw Draco hold out his hand to James, clearly introducing himself.I look away. *Gee. Maybe he's gonna kiss his hand.* I smirked to myself.
Suddenly, food appeared at the tables and everyone began eating and talking. Not feeling the least bit hungry I decided to go talk to James. I walked swiftly past the Gryffindor table and stopped behind James at the Slytherin table. I put my hands over his eyes and whispered, "Guess who?"
He turned around and his blue eyes widened. "Lindsey!" he gasped lunging at me and gathering me in his arms.
At this Malfoy turned around, sneering. "Awww...are you guys a couple?"
James released me and I turned to face Malfoy. "What's it to you, Malfoy?" I spat.
"What?" he asked trying to look innocent. "Can't a guy ask a simple question without getting yelled at?"
"I am NOT yelling," I said angrily then whispered to James, "I'll see ya later OK?" He nodded and I started to walk away but Draco grabbed my arm.
"Remember to meet me after the feast so I can show you around,' he whispered with a satisfied smirk.
I shook his hand off me and rolled my eyes at him. "Can't wait," I said sarcastically and stalked off. Why was he so damn nosy?
I sat back down at the Ravenclaw table and started plotting how I was gonna sneak away from Malfoy after the feast. Completely absorbed in my thoughts, I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned to face a Chinese girl, my age with glasses. "Hi!" she said shyly. "I'm Yuwei."
"Oh hey!" I smiled thinking I was gonna like her. "I'm Lindsey. I just moved here from the states."
"Cool!" she said. "I'm from China obviously." We laughed for a while then she said, "Oh!" and motioned to another very beautiful Asian girl with a cascade of long, sily black hair. "This is Cho Chang." Cho gave a fake smile and then turned away. "And this is Padman Patil," Yuwei said pointing to another rather heavy set girl across the table who waved merrily. I grinned at her. "OH yeah," Yuwei continued. "I'm a school prefect and you should know that the password to Ravenclaw toweris caput draconis."
"Thanks!" I said. The she began to explain about all the teachers and before I knew it the plates had been cleared. "Well I gotta run," I said to Yuwei. "I'll see you tonight!" She waved and I took off into the crowd heading for the oak doors. I pushed my way through the crowd and into a deserted corridor where I leaned against a wall catching my breath. *Man, I'm good!* I thought. *Malfoy didn't even see me!*
Suddenly a hand grabbed me and I screamed nearly knocking over whoever it was. I fell over and looked up to see Draco's ice blue eyes staring down at me, his usual smirk in place. 'You can run but you can't hide," he recited grinning. He reached down and grabbed my hand trying to help me up and making my heart race but I slapped it away.
'I can help myself thank you very much," I said glaring at him and getting to my feet.
He shrugged and we started down the corridor not saying anything until I finally said,"OK Malfoy. If your not gonna show me where anything is, then what was the point in volunteering?"
He stopped walking and turned to look at me. His blonde bangs fell across his forehead and cascaded into his icy eyes with a casual sexiness and I felt my breath catch in my throat, realizing once more how gorgeous he was. But I didn't have time to think about that because for the first time since I had met him, he looked completely serious. "The point," he said softly. "Was to get to know you better."
I stared at him for a few moments wondering why in the name of all that was holy would he say something like that. Then I shook my blonde hair back from my eyes and shrugged. "Well that's not gonna happen so you might as well leave."
Draco's figure seemed to shrivel up. He put his hands in his pockets and stared at the ground. "You're right," he mumbled. 'I'll leave." With that he slouched off towards the dungeons. I turned and headed in the opposite direction then stopped realizing I had no idea how to get to Ravenclaw tower. *s**t!* I thought. *Now I'm gonna have to ask blonde b*****d over there for help.*
I turned around and took a deep breath. "Draco?" I called after him.
He slowly turned around. "Yeah?"
"Do you know how to get to Ravenclaw tower?" I asked.
At this he immediately pasted his smirk back into place. "As a matter of fact I do. Follow me." And he began to descend a flight of stairs.
I sighed and followed muttering a slew of curse words at him under my breath.
Finally, we climbed to the top of the highest tower were stood an old rusty knight. I muttered the password so Malfoy wouldn't hear and the knight stepped aside to reveal a doorway. "Later," I mumbled without looking at him and tried to go in but he pulled me back against the wall and placed a hand on either side of my head so that I was trapped.
He leaned in so close to me that I could smell his minty breath and could see every fleck of blue in his eyes. I prayed to God that he wasn't going to kiss me because for the 4th time since I had been with him that night my heart had gone into tripple overtime and I found it hard to breath. And I didn't want these feelings. Especially not for a b*tch like him. "Your welcome," Draco breathed to me and then pulled back and released me from the wall. "Sweet dreams." He gave me one last satisfied smirk and disappeared back down the steps. I stood there for a while breathing hard. Why did he have to be an ass about everything? I shook my head, collecting myself and then stepped through the door.
The common room was deserted so I decided to go ahead and go to sleep. I crept up the stairs and silently opened the door on the right marked girls. I took the bed next to the window and Yuwei. I burrowed deep into the covers and gave into dreams about Draco Malfoy.

To Melt a Heart of Ice
Part 7: Something Wrong
(As told from Draco's point of view)

There was definately something wrong with me. Ever since the train ride to Hogwarts there had been only one thing on my mind: Lindsey Driscool. I wasn't able to concentrate on any of my classes the entire first day and I had been yelled at for not paying attention at least 7 times. The only thing I did was daydream about Lindsey and, if I was lucky enough to have her in my class, stare at her. Sometimes she would turn to look at me and catch me staring and then give me an icy glare, those blue eyes piercing my heart like daggers. It struck me how beautiful she was when she was mad. But I would hide my feelings and give her my best evil grin making her roll her eyes.
Later that day at dinner, I decided I couldn't stand it anymore so I went to go talk to Lindsey. I tapped her on the shoulder saying, "Hi gorgeous," in a joking manner but knowing that deep down I was telling the truth.
She sighed and turned to face me. "Come on Malfoy. Can't you find someone else to torture?"
I laughed. "No. No one's as fun as you."
She raised her eyebrows. "Oh really? And why is that?"
"BecauseIthinkI'mfallinginlovewithyou." I said that very quickly then stopped. *Oh no!* I thought. *I did NOT just say that out loud!*
"Huh?' she questioned, cocking her head to one side and looking confused.
"I...uh...I just said...uh..." I stammered. *Come on Draco! Get a hold of yourself!* I thought. "I just said because you look funny when your mad. That's why."
"Gee thanks," she shot me a glare before turning her back on me.
I sighed thinking *Score one for the loser! Nice one! Now you made her hate you even more!* I gave up and went back to the Slytherin table.
After dinner I left the great hall by myself and continued to the Slytherin common room where I sank into a green leather chair. This was the only girl I had ever had feelings for, I realized, and I couldn't let her get away. I had to make her love me. I just had to. My sanity depended on it. I knew that this was basically pointless. I mean, who could ever love someone like me? I was mean and I was cruel and I knew it. Maybe if it hadn't been for Father then I wouldn't be this way. I cringed thinking of all the times he had beaten me calling me a failure and a dishonor to the name Malfoy. I was never sure why. I had already hurt Lindsey's feelings and I didn't want to cause her pain. She didn't derserve it. But whenever I looked into her eyes I saw it there staring back at me like some kind of demon rising from the depths of her ocean blue eyes. Fierce pain. I didn't know what the cause of it was but only knew that I had contributed and I wanted to take it all away. I didn't understand this feeling that I had for her. But it was driving me crazy. Yep there was something wrong with me alright. Could it possibly be love?
